At 34 years old and entering his 12th NFL season, most players would be thinking about retirement.
But Raiders running back Raheem Mostert just sent a very different message.

Rewritten Article
The Las Vegas Raiders have struggled to establish consistency in their running game in recent seasons. In an effort to stabilize the backfield, the team brought in veteran running back Raheem Mostert last offseason to provide experience and depth behind rising star Ashton Jeanty.
While Mostert wasn’t heavily featured in the offense, his role proved valuable throughout the season. He contributed in key moments on special teams and offered reliable support whenever Jeanty needed a break.

Now, with free agency approaching, the veteran running back has made one thing perfectly clear:
He isn’t ready to walk away from football.
Mostert Makes His Intentions Clear
After completing his 11th NFL season, Mostert recently addressed his future during an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
Rather than hinting at retirement, the veteran made his mindset unmistakable.

“I definitely want to keep playing. Why not?” Mostert said. “I feel good, feel great. I didn’t take as much beating last season, so I want to continue to keep playing.”
For a player who has already spent over a decade in the NFL and played for six different teams, the statement reflects both confidence and determination.
Despite limited playing time in Las Vegas, Mostert believes he can still provide value to a team—whether it’s the Raiders or another franchise looking for a veteran presence.
A Valuable Veteran Presence
Mostert’s career has been defined by resilience and adaptability.
Throughout his time in the league, he has developed a reputation as a player who can contribute in multiple ways—whether as a change-of-pace running back, a special teams contributor, or a locker room leader.

Those qualities helped him carve out roles with several organizations before eventually landing with the Raiders.
Even in a limited role last season, he provided valuable depth behind Jeanty, helping the Raiders maintain stability in the backfield.
That experience could make him an appealing option for teams seeking a veteran running back who understands the demands of the league.
Raiders May Still Be Searching for Backfield Help
The Raiders are expected to explore additional options at running back this offseason, whether through free agency or the NFL Draft.
While Jeanty remains the centerpiece of the backfield, the team may want to strengthen the rotation behind him—especially after an inconsistent rushing attack in recent seasons.
That reality means Mostert could still remain part of the conversation.
At the same time, other teams around the league could see the veteran as a valuable depth piece, particularly given his versatility and experience.

Respect for Maxx Crosby
During the same interview, Mostert also spoke about one of the teammates who impressed him most during his time in Las Vegas: star defensive end Maxx Crosby.
According to Mostert, Crosby lives up to every bit of the reputation surrounding him.
“I believed all the hype,” Mostert said. “It would have to be Maxx Crosby. I love Maxx. He’s a straightforward guy who really cares about the game.”
Mostert went on to praise Crosby’s relentless work ethic and dedication to competition.
“He puts his heart and soul into it,” Mostert explained. “He’s a super professional guy who wants to be the ultimate competitor and win.”
The veteran running back also highlighted Crosby’s toughness, noting that the Raiders star rarely leaves the field despite the physical demands of his position.
“You’ve got to respect a guy like that,” Mostert added. “He puts his body on the line like there’s no tomorrow.”
What Comes Next?
As free agency approaches, the Raiders will continue evaluating their roster and potential additions.

Mostert’s future with the team remains uncertain, but his message was unmistakable: he still believes he can contribute at the NFL level.
Whether that opportunity comes in Las Vegas or somewhere else, the veteran running back appears determined to extend his career—and prove he still has something left in the tank.
