The Los Angeles Chargers entered the offseason with a clear goal: strengthen the offensive line in front of franchise quarterback Justin Herbert. One name quickly rose to the top of their wish list—All-Pro caliber center Tyler Linderbaum.
But a sudden and unexpected development involving the Chicago Bears may have dramatically changed the entire equation.
The Shock That Started It All
The ripple effect began when news broke that Bears Pro Bowl center Drew Dalman plans to retire at just 27 years old.
Dalman had only spent one season in Chicago after signing a three-year, $42 million contract, yet he quickly became a cornerstone of the Bears’ offensive line. His presence helped stabilize protections and played a significant role in the development of quarterback Caleb Williams.
Now, with Dalman walking away from the NFL, Chicago suddenly has a massive hole in the middle of its offensive line.
And that’s where the Chargers’ plans could unravel.
Bears Now Linked to Linderbaum
Even before the retirement became official, league insiders suggested the Bears had quietly explored the possibility of acquiring Tyler Linderbaum.
