One of the biggest NFL trades of the offseason just collapsed.
Maxx Crosby was supposed to be heading to Baltimore — until a failed physical stopped everything.

Ravens’ Maxx Crosby Trade Collapses After Failed Physical
A blockbuster trade between the Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders for star pass rusher Maxx Crosby has been abruptly called off after a medical issue surfaced during the process.
The deal fell apart Tuesday night after Crosby failed his physical, according to reports. The issue reportedly stems from meniscus surgery he underwent in January.
The sudden reversal stunned many around the league, as the move would have given Baltimore one of the NFL’s most feared defensive players.
What Happened

According to the Raiders, the Ravens decided to back out of the trade agreement after the physical results.
“The Baltimore Ravens have backed out of our trade agreement for Maxx Crosby. We have no further comment at this time,” Las Vegas said in a statement.
Because the deal never finalized, Baltimore will receive back the two first-round draft picks it had agreed to send to Las Vegas for Crosby.
A Major Defensive Boost That Never Happened
Crosby would have been a massive addition for new Ravens head coach Jesse Minter, giving Baltimore an elite edge rusher to anchor the defense.

The five-time Pro Bowler remains one of the league’s most disruptive defenders.
Even while dealing with injuries in 2025, Crosby still produced:
- 10 sacks
- 73 tackles
- 15 games played
- Fifth consecutive Pro Bowl selection
His relentless motor and pass-rushing ability would have instantly upgraded Baltimore’s defensive front.
Crosby’s Recent Injury Concerns
The medical concerns likely stem from the meniscus surgery Crosby underwent earlier this year.
The knee had already been an issue late last season.
Toward the end of the 2025 campaign, tensions surfaced between Crosby and the Raiders when the team considered shutting him down for the final games due to the injury.
Crosby reportedly left the team facility before a Week 16 game after learning the Raiders were considering sitting him.

Former head coach Pete Carroll later explained the situation.
“He knows that he’s banged up,” Carroll said at the time. “We had talked about it and he felt like he should leave, and I understood that.”
What Happens Next
With the trade now voided, Crosby’s future becomes uncertain again.

Several possibilities now exist:
- The Raiders keep Crosby as a centerpiece of their defense
- Las Vegas attempts to rework a trade with another team
- Baltimore pursues another pass-rushing option
For now, Crosby returns to the Raiders roster — but the situation could remain fluid.
A Shockwave Through Free Agency
The collapsed trade adds another twist to what has already been a chaotic NFL offseason.
Blockbuster moves, surprising cuts, and dramatic reversals have dominated the league’s early free agency period.

And with Crosby’s elite talent still potentially available, the drama may not be over yet.
