Behind the bright lights of an NFL championship season was a private battle no one saw.
For Cooper Kupp’s family, the move from Los Angeles to Seattle wasn’t just a career change — it was an emotional storm that brought daily tears.

“I Cried Every Day”: Cooper Kupp’s Wife Reveals Emotional Struggles After Rams Exit and Seahawks Move
NFL free agency and trades often dominate headlines for their impact on teams and players. But behind those moves are families whose lives are turned upside down overnight.
For Cooper Kupp and his family, leaving the Los Angeles Rams after nearly a decade wasn’t just another career transition. According to his wife Anna Kupp, the emotional toll of the move was far greater than most fans could imagine.

In a heartfelt reflection, Anna revealed that the early months following Kupp’s release from the Rams were filled with overwhelming emotions and daily heartbreak.
A Painful Goodbye After Eight Years in Los Angeles
Cooper Kupp had become one of the most recognizable faces of the Los Angeles Rams franchise.
Drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Kupp spent eight seasons building a legacy with the team. During that time, he recorded 634 receptions, more than 7,700 receiving yards, and 57 touchdowns.
His most iconic year came in 2021, when he delivered one of the greatest receiving seasons in NFL history. That year, Kupp led the league in:
- Receptions
- Receiving yards
- Touchdown catches
The incredible performance earned him NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors and cemented his place among the league’s elite receivers.

But the seasons that followed brought a series of injuries that disrupted his rhythm and limited his availability on the field. His games played declined dramatically — from 17 to 9 to 12 across several seasons.
Eventually, the Rams made the difficult decision to release their longtime star in 2025.
A Life-Changing Move to Seattle
Shortly after his release, Kupp signed a three-year, $45 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks, beginning a completely new chapter of his career.
For football fans, the move was just another offseason headline.
For the Kupp family, it meant leaving behind eight years of memories, friendships, and a life built in California.
Anna Kupp later revealed how emotionally overwhelming the transition was.
“If I’m being honest, the first few months I cried every day,” she wrote in a personal post. “Sobbed sometimes, which is very uncharacteristic for me.”

The move was especially difficult for their children, who struggled with the sudden change in environment and routine.
“My boys were sad, and I was exhausted and overwhelmed trying to make this new adventure beautiful for them,” Anna explained.
Slowly Finding a New Home
Despite the early struggles, Anna said she remained determined to help her family adjust to their new life in Seattle.
Day by day, things began to improve.
“I kept showing up every single day,” she wrote. “And something beautiful really did happen.”
As the family settled into a routine, the emotional weight slowly began to lift.
Even Seattle’s famously gray weather — which initially felt overwhelming — became easier to handle as the family started building new relationships and community connections.
Anna also expressed gratitude to friends and supporters who helped them navigate the difficult transition.
Her message ultimately carried a hopeful reminder: even the hardest seasons can lead to unexpected joy.
Cooper Kupp Faced His Own Challenges
The transition wasn’t easy for Cooper Kupp either.
In an interview with NFL on FOX, the veteran receiver admitted that the past year had tested him both personally and professionally.

“There were some really tough times for my family and I,” Kupp said. “It wasn’t smooth and perfect. It wasn’t sunshine and rainbows.”
Still, the support he received from his new teammates and coaches helped him quickly feel at home in Seattle.
The locker room chemistry translated onto the field as well.
A Championship Ending
Despite the emotional start to his Seahawks journey, Kupp’s first season in Seattle ended in spectacular fashion.
The Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29–13 in the Super Bowl, capping off a remarkable championship run.
Kupp played a key role during the postseason, stepping up in critical moments.
In the Super Bowl, he caught six passes for 61 yards, helping stabilize the offense when star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba briefly left the field with a possible concussion.
Earlier in the NFC Championship Game, Kupp delivered another clutch performance against his former team, the Rams. He recorded four catches for 36 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown that helped seal Seattle’s 31–27 victory.
For the season, Kupp finished with:
- 47 receptions
- 593 receiving yards
- Two touchdowns
A New Chapter Still Being Written
What began as one of the most difficult transitions in the Kupp family’s lives ultimately turned into a story of resilience.
Through tears, uncertainty, and dramatic change, the family found a way to rebuild their lives — and even celebrate a championship along the way.

Now entering his second season in Seattle, Cooper Kupp and the Seahawks are already looking ahead.
And this time, the journey feels much lighter.
