Two Instagram posts.
The same cryptic caption.
Now some fans think Caleb Williams might be hinting at a major Bears trade.

Caleb Williams’ Instagram Sparks Jordan Addison Trade Speculation
A pair of unusual social media posts has sparked speculation that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams may be quietly pushing for a reunion with Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison.
The situation began when Addison posted a photo on Instagram wearing a Matt Forte jersey, accompanied by a cryptic caption:
“Only wore ’em once.”

That alone raised eyebrows, since Addison has no known ties to Chicago.
But things got even more interesting later the same day.
Williams Posts Similar Message

Shortly after Addison’s post, Williams shared an Instagram story featuring a photo of Addison playing against the Bears.
The caption?
“Only wore ’em once.”
The identical message immediately caught the attention of NFL fans online, fueling theories that something bigger might be happening behind the scenes.
Why Addison Could Be Available

Addison has emerged as one of the league’s best No. 2 receivers alongside superstar Justin Jefferson in Minnesota.
But his long-term future with the Vikings is uncertain.
Minnesota faces a major decision regarding Addison’s fifth-year option, which must be exercised by May 1.
If the Vikings decline it, they could either:
- Let Addison play out his rookie contract
- Trade him while his value is still high
Target Share Declining
Addison’s role in the Vikings offense has also been shrinking.
His targets dropped from 99 to 79 last season, leading some analysts to believe Minnesota may be prioritizing Jefferson even more heavily.

There have also been off-field issues, including a DUI incident, which has created additional questions about his future with the team.
Why Chicago Could Make Sense
A potential move to Chicago wouldn’t come completely out of nowhere.
Williams and Addison were teammates at USC in 2022, where they quickly developed strong chemistry.
During that season, Addison recorded:
- 875 receiving yards
- 8 touchdowns
Their connection helped Addison become a first-round pick in the NFL Draft.
Now, some fans believe Williams may be hinting at a possible reunion.
Bears Could Use Another Receiver
Chicago’s receiver situation also adds to the speculation.
The Bears recently traded wide receiver DJ Moore, and while they still have young talent like Rome Odunze, depth remains a concern.
Adding Addison would give the offense:
- A proven playmaker
- A receiver Williams already trusts
- Another weapon in head coach Ben Johnson’s offense
Would the Vikings Trade Within the Division?
The biggest obstacle would be Minnesota’s willingness to trade Addison within the NFC North.
While divisional trades are rare, they are not unheard of.

The potential return could also be manageable, with some analysts believing Addison might fetch a Day 2 draft pick due to contract and off-field considerations.
Just Coincidence?
For now, the entire situation remains speculation.
The two Instagram posts could easily be nothing more than inside jokes between former teammates.
But when two players post the same cryptic message on the same day, it’s enough to make fans wonder.
And if the Bears do end up pursuing Addison, those posts might end up looking a lot less like coincidence.
