Kyle Tucker stepped away from Dodgers camp for one of the biggest moments of his life.
Now he’s back — and he’s already sending a confident message about what comes next.

GLENDALE, Arizona — After briefly leaving spring training to welcome the birth of his first child, Kyle Tucker is back with the Los Angeles Dodgers — and he’s making it clear he has no concerns about being ready for the season.
The star outfielder returned to the lineup Sunday and immediately began shaking off the rust, appearing in his first Cactus League game since Feb. 28.
More importantly, Tucker believes there is still plenty of time to prepare before Opening Day arrives.
“I’ll get plenty of at-bats,” Tucker said confidently. “Whatever I kind of need, especially once the season starts creeping up on us, we’ll get those in.”
For the Dodgers — and their championship ambitions — that reassurance matters.

A Week Away for a Life-Changing Moment
Tucker’s absence from Dodgers camp wasn’t related to injury or performance.
Instead, the 28-year-old stepped away for something far more meaningful: the birth of his first child with his wife, Samantha.
The couple welcomed their baby earlier in the week, prompting Tucker to temporarily leave Arizona and join his family for the milestone moment.
When he returned Sunday, he wasted little time getting back into game action.

Facing the Oakland Athletics, Tucker went 1-for-3 at the plate, marking his first appearance since his brief leave.
So far this spring, the Dodgers’ newest superstar is 2-for-10 with four walks across five games.
Those numbers may be small, but spring training results rarely define readiness.
Roberts Confident Tucker Will Be Ready
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts isn’t worried about Tucker’s preparation timeline.

In fact, Roberts believes the veteran slugger needs very little time to find his rhythm.
“From what I’ve gathered talking to him and his coaches before, he doesn’t need a lot to get ready,” Roberts said.
The manager added that seeing Tucker pick up a hit in his return game was an encouraging sign.
“I still think we have plenty of time to get him ready to go.”
With less than two weeks remaining in Arizona before the Dodgers return to Southern California for the Freeway Series, every remaining spring game offers valuable reps.

But for a hitter with Tucker’s experience, a full workload may not be necessary.
A Massive New Addition to a Loaded Dodgers Lineup
Tucker enters 2026 as one of the most high-profile additions to an already star-studded Dodgers roster.
During the offseason, Los Angeles signed him to a four-year, $240 million contract, adding another elite bat to a lineup already packed with superstars.
That lineup now includes:
- Shohei Ohtani
- Mookie Betts
- Freddie Freeman
- Will Smith
- Max Muncy
- Teoscar Hernández
Within that group, Tucker is expected to play right field and hit second, forming a dangerous offensive combination near the top of the order.

His arrival has only intensified expectations that the Dodgers could once again dominate the National League.
A Proven Star Looking for the Next Step
Tucker arrives in Los Angeles following another impressive season.
Last year with the Chicago Cubs, he posted a .266/.377/.464 slash line, hitting 22 home runs and driving in 73 runs across 136 games.
His performance earned him:
- A fourth consecutive All-Star selection
- His second career Silver Slugger Award
Dodgers leadership believes his all-around skill set — power, discipline, defense, speed, and arm strength — gives him the tools to become one of the league’s most complete players.
Roberts has even hinted that Tucker could emerge as a serious National League MVP candidate this season.
Tucker Focused on One Goal
Despite the spotlight surrounding his arrival in Los Angeles, Tucker has taken a modest approach to his new role.
He says his focus is simple: contribute to the team and help the Dodgers continue their championship run.
“I’m just trying to do my part,” Tucker said.
And that goal carries massive stakes.
The Dodgers enter 2026 chasing something historic — a third consecutive World Series title.
If Tucker delivers the way the organization expects, his bat could become one of the most important pieces in that pursuit.
For now, though, the newest Dodgers star is balancing two major life milestones at once:
A championship chase.
And the start of fatherhood.
