Kerry Washington made a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where she opened up about managing severe food allergies, family conversations around race, and her role in the upcoming Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
For the occasion, she wore a Marc Jacobs sculpted lace shadow dress you may recognise from the Fall 2024 collection. Kerry’s version is the commercial iteration — the one the rest of us could theoretically buy — but on the runway, the proportions were intentionally exaggerated, leaning into Marc Jacobs’ love of theatrical silhouettes. There are only a handful of places that version could realistically live: on Lady Gaga, in an editorial, or in Karla Welch’s studio, eventually ending up on Tracee Ellis Ross, or Sarah Paulson.
Kerry’s take, however, is streamlined in the best way. The black side panel creates the impression of a narrower waist, which works beautifully in this mini silhouette. The lace overlay adds intrigue, and the shorter length makes the whole look feel easier to wear than the mid-calf runway version.
She finished the outfit with hoop earrings and black pumps — simple choices that let the dress do the talking.
This is a great lane for Kerry: elegant, unfussy, and approachable, which makes it ideal choice for late-night press.
