The Buffalo Bills thought they had just solved their biggest offensive problem.
But across the AFC East, Miami Dolphins fans are laughing—and loudly.

Dolphins Fans Mock Bills’ Costly DJ Moore Trade as AFC East Rivalry Heats Up
The Buffalo Bills made a bold move to strengthen their offense, acquiring wide receiver D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears. The deal was supposed to give quarterback Josh Allen the reliable outside weapon he’s been missing.
Instead, it has sparked a wave of mockery—especially from Miami Dolphins fans, who see the trade as yet another questionable move from Buffalo’s front office.
While the Bills believe Moore could revitalize their passing attack, critics across the division aren’t convinced.
And Dolphins fans are leading the charge.

A Division Still Defined by Josh Allen
Ever since Tom Brady left the New England Patriots, the AFC East has been wide open.
The Dolphins, Bills, and Jets all scrambled to find franchise quarterbacks between 2018 and 2021, each investing high draft picks in hopes of taking control of the division.
But only one of those gambles truly paid off.
Josh Allen quickly established himself as the most dominant quarterback in the division—and one of the most dangerous players in the NFL.
His dominance over Miami has been especially brutal.

In 16 career games against the Dolphins, Allen has thrown for:
- 4,256 passing yards
- 42 touchdowns
- 9 interceptions
That dominance has produced a staggering 109.4 passer rating against Miami.
Despite that success, the Bills still haven’t reached the ultimate goal.
Buffalo’s Missing Piece?
For all of Allen’s brilliance, Buffalo has repeatedly failed to break through in the postseason.
The franchise has yet to reach a Super Bowl during Allen’s tenure, leaving fans frustrated as championship windows come and go.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane has often been credited with drafting Allen—but critics argue his roster-building decisions since then have been far less impressive.
The latest example, according to rival fans, is the trade for Moore.
Buffalo reportedly sent a second-round pick to Chicago to acquire the receiver.
On paper, Moore once looked like a true No. 1 target.

In 2023, he delivered a breakout campaign with:
- 96 receptions
- 1,364 receiving yards
- 8 touchdowns
But his production has dropped significantly in recent seasons.
In 2025, Moore recorded just:
- 50 receptions
- 682 yards
Both numbers were career lows.
The Contract That Raised Eyebrows
What truly caught fans’ attention wasn’t just the trade—it was the financial commitment that followed.
Moore already had guaranteed money for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, when he will be 29 and 30 years old.

Yet Buffalo reportedly added another $15.5 million guaranteed for 2028, when Moore will be 31 years old.
For many Dolphins fans, that decision felt baffling.
Especially considering the other receivers potentially available this offseason.
Rumored trade targets and free agents have included stars such as:
- A.J. Brown
- Brian Thomas Jr.
- Mike Evans
- Deebo Samuel
- Alec Pierce
Compared to those names, critics argue Moore represents a risky investment.
A Pattern Dolphins Fans Know Well
Some Miami supporters believe the move fits a familiar pattern.
Before becoming Buffalo’s general manager, Beane spent nearly two decades with the Carolina Panthers.
Since arriving in Buffalo, he has frequently targeted former Panthers players.
Examples include:
- Kelvin Benjamin
- Josh Norman
- Curtis Samuel
None of those acquisitions turned into long-term successes.
That history has fueled skepticism about Moore’s arrival.
The Rivalry Isn’t Slowing Down
Despite the criticism, the Bills remain the team to beat in the AFC East as long as Josh Allen is under center.
But the division rivalry is as intense as ever.
And in Miami, fans are enjoying every opportunity to question Buffalo’s decisions.

Whether Moore becomes the missing piece for the Bills—or another expensive gamble—will become clear soon enough.
Until then, the laughter across the AFC East isn’t likely to stop.
