The Seattle Seahawks are making sure one of their most explosive playmakers isn’t going anywhere.
Just days into NFL free agency, Seattle has reportedly locked up a key contributor with a major new deal.

Seahawks Re-Sign Explosive WR Rashid Shaheed to $51 Million Deal
The Seattle Seahawks are bringing back wide receiver and return specialist Rashid Shaheed, agreeing to a three-year, $51 million contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The deal reportedly includes $34.7 million in guaranteed money, signaling Seattle’s strong belief in the dynamic playmaker.

Shaheed Became a Special Teams Star
Shaheed quickly made an impact after the Seahawks acquired him from the New Orleans Saints at the trade deadline last November.
Seattle sent a 2026 fourth-round pick and a fifth-round pick to New Orleans in exchange for the speedy receiver.

While his receiving numbers were modest, Shaheed became a game-changing weapon on special teams.
He delivered three return touchdowns during Seattle’s late-season run:
- 100-yard kickoff return TD in Week 14 against Atlanta
- 58-yard punt return TD that sparked a comeback win over the Rams in Week 16
- 95-yard kickoff return TD to open the Seahawks’ playoff victory over the 49ers
Those explosive plays made Shaheed one of the most dangerous return specialists in the league.
Impact Beyond Special Teams
Shaheed also contributed to the offense as a vertical deep threat.
Across 12 regular-season and playoff games, he recorded:
- 18 receptions
- 266 receiving yards
He also added 11 rushing attempts for 86 yards, showing versatility in Seattle’s offensive scheme.

One of his biggest offensive plays came during the NFC Championship Game, when he hauled in a 51-yard reception that helped spark an early touchdown drive.
Even when he wasn’t getting the ball, Shaheed’s speed forced defenses to respect the deep pass, which helped open running lanes for the Seahawks’ offense.
Seahawks Prioritize Keeping Key Contributors
Shaheed becomes the second unrestricted free agent the Seahawks have re-signed since the free agency negotiation period began.

Cornerback Josh Jobe also reportedly agreed to return on a three-year, $24 million deal.
Seattle general manager John Schneider has now made a habit of re-signing players the team acquires at the trade deadline.
Shaheed joins players like Leonard Williams and Ernest Jones IV, who were also acquired midseason and later extended.
Seattle Also Losing Several Key Players
While the Seahawks secured Shaheed, they have also lost several important players in free agency.
Reported departures include:
- RB Kenneth Walker III → Kansas City Chiefs (3 years, up to $45M)
- S Coby Bryant → Chicago Bears (3 years, $40M)
- EDGE Boye Mafe → Cincinnati Bengals (3 years, $60M)
Despite those losses, Seattle appears focused on maintaining the core that helped fuel their recent success.

By locking up Shaheed long-term, the Seahawks are ensuring that one of their most electrifying playmakers will remain in Seattle for years to come.
