The Seattle Seahawks just made sure one of their most explosive playmakers isn’t going anywhere.
After helping power a Super Bowl run, Rashid Shaheed is officially staying in Seattle—and he says this is exactly where he wants to be.

Seahawks Lock In Explosive Playmaker Rashid Shaheed After Super Bowl Run
The Seattle Seahawks have secured one of the most dynamic weapons from their championship season.
Wide receiver and return specialist Rashid Shaheed has signed a multi-year contract to remain with the Seahawks, rewarding the electric playmaker after a breakout season that helped fuel Seattle’s journey to Super Bowl LX glory.
For Shaheed, the deal represents the fulfillment of a promise he made the moment he arrived in Seattle.
“I’m here to stay,” Shaheed said when he first joined the team via trade during the 2025 season. “I’m excited to see if we can figure something out after the season ends.”

Just three months later, that vision has become reality.
A Trade That Changed the Seahawks’ Season
Seattle originally acquired Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints in early November, sending fourth- and fifth-round draft picks in exchange for the explosive receiver.
At the time, the Seahawks were searching for a player who could add speed and game-changing ability on offense and special teams.
Shaheed delivered exactly that—and then some.

His impact quickly became one of the most important midseason additions in the NFL.
A Game-Changer on Special Teams
While Shaheed contributed on offense, his biggest impact came in the return game.
During the 2025 season, Shaheed became the only player in the NFL to record both a kickoff return touchdown and a punt return touchdown.
Some of his biggest moments included:
- Kickoff return touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons
- Punt return touchdown during a dramatic comeback win over the Rams in Week 16
- 95-yard kickoff return touchdown to open Seattle’s divisional playoff game against the 49ers
That electrifying return set the tone for a blowout victory and ignited the Seahawks’ playoff run.
By the end of the season, Shaheed had earned Pro Bowl honors as a return specialist.
Statistically, he finished:
- 5th in the NFL in kickoff return average (29.8 yards)
- 4th in punt return average (14.7 yards)
Those numbers cemented his reputation as one of the league’s most dangerous special teams weapons.

Joining a Dangerous Seahawks Offense
With Shaheed locked in long-term, Seattle now boasts one of the most exciting receiving groups in the NFL.
The Seahawks’ wide receiver unit includes:
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba – AP Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Pro
- Cooper Kupp – veteran Super Bowl MVP
- Rashid Shaheed – elite speed threat and return specialist
- Tory Horton – standout rookie before a season-ending shin injury
Shaheed believes the group has the potential to be one of the league’s most explosive offenses.
“We’re dangerous,” Shaheed said. “We know what we can do. With JSN, with Coop, with Tory—everybody brings something different.”

That versatility gives the Seahawks an offense capable of attacking defenses in multiple ways.
A Bigger Role Could Be Coming
Another reason Shaheed is excited about the future is the opportunity to experience a full offseason with the team.
Because he joined Seattle midway through the season, he had limited time to fully integrate into the offensive system.
Now that he’ll participate in training camp and the entire offseason program, Shaheed expects his role to grow even more.
“I’m super excited to get a full offseason with this team,” he said. “To build on what we started last year and continue growing my role.”
A Dream Situation
For Shaheed, the moment feels deeply personal.
Winning a Super Bowl and then earning a long-term contract with the same team has been a dream scenario.

“Signing after a Super Bowl… it means a lot,” Shaheed said. “My family is excited, I’m excited. This is everything I prayed for.”
And for the Seahawks, keeping Shaheed ensures that one of the most electrifying players from their championship run will remain a key part of the franchise’s future.
