Could Arsenal’s next defensive superstar already be in the making? One young Spaniard says he’s learning from the very best — and the Premier League is watching closely.
Cristhian Mosquera Opens Up: Gabriel and Saliba Are Like “Older Siblings” at Arsenal

When 21-year-old Cristhian Mosquera made the bold move from his hometown club Valencia to the Premier League giants Arsenal last summer, few could have predicted how quickly he’d adapt. But 25 appearances later, and a senior debut for Spain, it’s clear the teenager isn’t just surviving — he’s thriving.
“It wasn’t easy to leave Valencia. It had been my home for basically my entire life,” Mosquera admitted to Europa Press. “But moving to Arsenal was the right decision. I’ve settled in London faster than I expected. The Premier League is physically demanding, but I always knew I could handle it — many people told me my style would suit it perfectly. And now, when the time came to prove myself, I did.”

Mosquera’s rapid rise hasn’t gone unnoticed. Training alongside Arsenal’s defensive powerhouses — Brazil’s Gabriel Magalhães and France’s William Saliba — has been an eye-opening experience.
“From day one, Gabriel and William have looked after me like older siblings,” Mosquera said. “They give advice, protect you on and off the pitch, and they’re two of the best centre-backs in the world. Watching them every weekend is a privilege.”
The young Spaniard’s arrival couldn’t have been timelier for Arsenal, who are storming ahead in the Premier League. Even after their Carabao Cup heartbreak against Manchester City earlier this month, Mikel Arteta’s side remains nine points clear at the top — though Pep Guardiola’s men have a game in hand.

Looking ahead, Arsenal have an exciting spring schedule: an FA Cup quarterfinal clash against Southampton on April 4 and a Champions League quarterfinal showdown with Sporting Lisbon. Mosquera is clear-eyed about the stakes:
“In recent years, Arsenal hasn’t always hit its targets, but this season feels different. We have the chance to win titles, and we’re going to fight for every fan. The Champions League is exciting, and we’re in the quarter-finals now — hopefully, we can go even further and lift the trophy.”
And Mosquera’s ambitions don’t stop at club level. After making his senior Spain debut in the 3-0 win over Serbia, he’s already dreaming of the 2026 World Cup.

“What I’m going through is crazy, and I want to make the most of it,” he said. “Only God knows if I’ll make the squad, but every player dreams of representing his country on that stage.”
From leaving home to becoming a rising star in one of the world’s toughest leagues, Mosquera’s journey is one fans and pundits alike will be watching closely. Arsenal’s next defensive legend might just be starting to write his story — and the Premier League is his stage.
