The Patriots didn’t wait long to replace Stefon Diggs.
They just gave Drake Maye a new weapon — and paid big money to get him.

Patriots Sign Romeo Doubs to Give Drake Maye a New Weapon
The New England Patriots have made a major move in free agency, signing wide receiver Romeo Doubs to strengthen their offense around quarterback Drake Maye.
According to reports, the Patriots agreed to a four-year contract worth up to $70 million with the former Green Bay Packers receiver.

Doubs was widely viewed as the best wide receiver still available on the free-agent market.
Patriots Move Quickly After Missing Other Targets
New England reportedly showed interest in several receivers when the legal tampering period began.
One of their top targets was Alec Pierce, but he quickly signed a four-year, $116 million deal to remain with the Indianapolis Colts.
After Pierce came off the board, the Patriots shifted their focus to Doubs and finalized a deal shortly after.
The move comes after New England released Stefon Diggs, who had been the team’s top receiver in 2025.

Doubs Coming Off Best Season
Doubs joins the Patriots following the most productive season of his career.
In 2025 with the Packers, he led the team in:
- Receptions: 55
- Receiving yards: 724
- Touchdowns: 6 (tied for team lead)
The season also marked the first time he surpassed 700 receiving yards in the NFL.
While injuries to teammates helped increase his opportunities, Doubs took advantage and emerged as one of Green Bay’s top offensive weapons.
Proven Red Zone Threat
One area where Doubs has consistently excelled is in the red zone.
Over the last three seasons, he has recorded 18 receiving touchdowns, tying him with several notable NFL receivers during that span.

That scoring ability is something the Patriots hope will help replace Diggs’ production.
Strong Playoff Performer
Doubs has also shown he can step up in big moments.
Despite never recording a 100-yard game in the regular season, he has already done it twice in the playoffs.
Some of his best performances include:
- 151 yards and a touchdown vs. Dallas (2023 playoffs)
- 124 yards and a touchdown vs. Chicago (2025 wild-card round)
Those performances helped boost his value heading into free agency.

New Look Patriots Receiving Corps
Doubs now joins a Patriots receiver group that includes:
- Kayshon Boutte
- Mack Hollins
- DeMario Douglas
- Kyle Williams
- Efton Chism III
- John Jiles
- Jeremiah Webb
Even after the signing, the Patriots could still look to add another receiver through the NFL Draft or additional free agency moves.

For now, however, Drake Maye officially has a new top target in New England.
