Jimmy Kimmel has gone through a lot as a parent, but it seems like he’s catching a break as of late.
Kimmel, 57, recently revealed that his son, Billy, 7, is “in perfect health,” according to an E! News article that was published on Monday, February 24. The health update comes almost a year after Billy underwent his third open-heart surgery in May 2024.
Billy was born in April 2017 and was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect (called Tetralogy of Fallot with VSD) and underwent his first surgery just hours after being born. Kimmel previously spoke about how he felt during the procedure on his late-night show, where he told viewers, “It was the longest three hours of my life. They didn’t do everything. He’ll have to have another open-heart surgery in three to six months.”

The second surgery that the comedian’s son underwent happened seven months after the first and was a success. The father of four shared a snapshot of Billy on Instagram in celebration of his first birthday in April 2019, thanked the medical professionals who had a hand in saving his son’s life, and wrote, “A yr ago today, God gave us this tough little boy. Today, we thank the nurses & doctors at @CedarsSinai & @ChildrensLA who saved his life & those who shared thoughts & prayers. We cannot stay quiet. Kimmel shares two children, Katie, 33, and Kevin, 31, with his ex-wife Gina Kimmel. The two got married in 1988 and stayed together for 14 years before they decided to split up in 2002.

The Man Show co-creator and star met his second wife, Molly McNearney, in 2006, and started dating in 2009. The duo tied the knot in 2013 and welcomed their first child, Jane in 2014, followed by Billy in 2017.
