Whoopi Goldberg is celebrating another decade with a special dish from her friend, Joy Behar.
On Thursday, Nov. 13, The View host rang in her 70th birthday on air with show panelists Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
While Behar, 83, wasn’t there to celebrate the milestone — missing her third scheduled appearance in a row — she still sent over a treat for her longtime colleague.Whoopi Goldberg appears on ‘The View’ for her 70th birthday on Nov. 13, 2025.

After she walked out to on-screen confetti and a giant display reading “Happy birthday Whoopi,” Goldberg’s co-hosts presented her with a freshly baked lasagna from Behar. “As you can see, Joy is not here but she will be back,” Goldberg bean, before Hostin, 57, interjected. “However, Joy has sent you her lasagna.”
Hostin added, “She has been home baking and she said to please enjoy it before the cost of tariffs hit.”
Goldberg then made a tariff joke of her own (“maybe I’ll put a tariff on it”) and laughed along with her colleagues.
Elsewhere during the birthday segment, she danced to the Staple Singers’ 1972 hit “Respect Yourself,” before revealing her “mantra” as she enters a new decade. “I walked out to one of my favorite songs,” Goldberg explained. “People ask me why that song. It’s because it’s my birthday and because that’s my mantra these days: Respect yourself. If you don’t respect yourself, nobody’s gonna do it.”
Goldberg also extended a birthday greeting to her granddaughter, Claim to Fame star Amara, who turned 36 on Thursday. The View‘s official social media pages also wished Goldberg “a very special happy birthday” in honor of her 70th.
This is not the first time Behar gifted Goldberg a lasagna for her birthday. However, Thursday’s episode marked Behar’s third scheduled appearance on The View that she’s missed this week, as well as the fourth consecutive episode where she was not on the panel. Behar is usually off on Mondays.
During Wednesday’s taping, Goldberg announced that Behar “hurt her foot” and would “hopefully” return to set the following day. PEOPLE reached out to a representative of The View for comment.
