The Seattle Seahawks are officially turning the page to the offseason — but after a historic Super Bowl run, expectations for 2026 are sky-high. 🏆🏈

Seahawks Shift Focus to Free Agency After Super Bowl Season
With the NFL Scouting Combine finished, the Seattle Seahawks are now preparing for the next phase of the offseason: free agency.
Teams can begin negotiating with free agents when the legal tampering period opens Monday, while the new league year officially begins Wednesday at 1 p.m. PT.
Seahawks general manager John Schneider and head coach Mike Macdonald recently discussed what lies ahead for the defending champions.
John Schneider Talks Free Agency Decisions
Schneider explained that this time of year is often difficult because roster moves impact relationships within the organization.
He emphasized the emotional side of roster decisions, noting that teams must still make tough choices to build the best roster possible.

According to Schneider, the Seahawks’ goal is always clear:
Build the best 53-man roster
Maintain depth with the best 70 players overall
Balance contracts and salary cap flexibility
He also noted that player value is evaluated differently during free agency compared to the NFL Draft.
Instead of ranking players, teams must determine how valuable each player is to their own roster and system.
Mike Macdonald Shows His Personality

During the NFL Combine, head coach Mike Macdonald appeared on the popular podcast Pardon My Take, where he showed off his lighter side.
The interview even referenced a viral moment involving Macdonald talking about spending time with his young son.
A comment about spending “an extra 30 minutes” with his son on Thursdays was misunderstood online as meaning he only spent 30 minutes a week with him.
Macdonald joked about the misunderstanding during the podcast, saying:
“It was epic.”
He also said being called a “football genius” makes him uncomfortable because he believes the credit belongs to the players on the field.

Are the 2025 Seahawks an All-Time Team?
Macdonald also made a bold statement recently, saying the 2025 Seahawks deserve recognition as one of the greatest teams in NFL history.
The numbers support the argument.
Seattle’s historic season included:
Super Bowl LX victory over the Patriots (29–13)
14 wins, the most in franchise history
10-game winning streak to finish the season
483 points scored, a franchise record

NFL-best +191 point differential
The Seahawks also had the top defense in the league, allowing just 17.2 points per game, while ranking among the league leaders offensively.
A Brutal Championship Path
Seattle’s postseason run was particularly impressive because of the competition they faced.
During their final stretch, the Seahawks defeated:
Los Angeles Rams
San Francisco 49ers
New England Patriots
All three opponents had 12 or more wins, making Seattle the first No. 1 seed to beat three 12-win teams in a single postseason.
What Comes Next
Despite the championship success, roster changes are inevitable.
The Seahawks will now focus on:
Free agency decisions

Roster adjustments
Preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft
If Seattle can navigate the offseason successfully, they’ll have a strong chance to defend their Super Bowl title next season.
