Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are facing difficult times. Three weeks after Prince Andrew announced his decision to give up his titles and honors, King Charles III has formally withdrawn them — including the title of Prince and of Duke of York — terminating the agreement that allowed Andrew to live at the Royal Lodge.
The Princesses have relied on each other as their father’s scandal continues to unfold
The stripping of titles occurred after many called for stronger measures against Prince Andrew due to his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Amid the series of developments and decisions made in recent days, The Daily Mail captured an exclusive image showing Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie embracing in London. The photo was taken on Thursday, marking the sisters’ first joint public appearance since their father was officially stripped of his royal titles.
The image showed the two bundled up in their winter coats as they walked through the Mayfair neighborhood, stopping at a corner to chat before sharing a hug. Their meeting took place the same day Charles issued the royal patent notifying the public that Andrew “shall no longer be entitled to hold and enjoy the style, title, or attribute of ‘His Royal Highness’ nor the titular dignity of ‘Prince.’”
The princess’ mother, Sarah Ferguson, previously known as the Duchess of York, has also lost her title.

Does King Charles III’s decision affect them?
It appears that Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, will not be affected by their parents’ loss of royal titles. As princesses by birth and nieces of the King, the sisters will retain their titles. As granddaughters of Queen Elizabeth II, they’ve had the official HRH titles since birth, with them known as “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice/Eugenie of York.” Per HELLO!, Andrew and King Charles III are in agreement when it comes to this decision.
The princesses have relied on each other during this challenging time
Beatrice currently stands ninth in the line of succession to the throne, following her father, while Eugenie is twelfth. Since her marriage in 2018, Eugenie has been known as Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank, while Beatrice has carried the title Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice, Mrs. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi since marrying the property developer in 2020. Neither of their husbands received titles upon marriage.
Although Andrew and Ferguson will not join the Royal Family for Christmas, HELLO! reports that Beatrice and Eugenie are expected to attend the family gathering at Sandringham. In Ferguson’s case, she will no longer use the Duchess of York title, which she had retained after her divorce as a courtesy from Queen Elizabeth II. Since her correspondence with Epstein was leaked, King Charles has also distanced himself from her.
Despite their parents losing their titles, the sisters are being allowed to retain their titles and are expected to spend Christmas with the King and their family
