Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is losing one of his most trusted targets just as he prepares for his third NFL season. 🏈

And the move could reshape Chicago’s offense heading into 2026.
Caleb Williams Loses Key Receiver as Bears Trade DJ Moore
The Chicago Bears have reportedly traded veteran wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills, removing one of quarterback Caleb Williams’ most reliable weapons.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Buffalo will receive:
- DJ Moore
- 2026 fifth-round pick
In return, Chicago will acquire a 2026 second-round draft pick.
The Bills will also guarantee $15.5 million of Moore’s 2028 base salary, according to Moore’s agents.
Moore Was a Major Part of Chicago’s Offense

Moore played a key role in Chicago’s offense during the 2025 season, appearing in all 17 games and recording:
- 50 receptions
- 682 receiving yards
- 6 touchdowns
His steady presence helped provide stability for Williams as the young quarterback continued to develop.
Caleb Williams Took Big Step in 2025

Williams’ second NFL season showed major progress after a difficult rookie campaign.
The former No. 1 overall pick finished the year with:
- 3,942 passing yards
- 27 touchdowns
- 7 interceptions
- 330 completions on 568 attempts
He also contributed on the ground with:
- 388 rushing yards
- 3 rushing touchdowns
Williams’ growth helped lead Chicago to an 11–6 record and an NFC North title, returning the franchise to the playoffs.

Moore’s Time in Chicago
Moore joined the Bears in 2023 as part of the blockbuster trade that sent the No. 1 overall pick to the Carolina Panthers.
He quickly became one of the team’s most dependable offensive players thanks to:
- precise route running
- yards-after-catch ability
- consistent production despite quarterback changes earlier in his career
Before arriving in Chicago, Moore recorded three 1,000-yard seasons with the Panthers.
Bears Still Have Young Weapons
Despite losing Moore, the Bears still have a promising group of pass catchers around Williams.
Chicago’s young offensive core includes:
- Rome Odunze (former first-round pick)
- Luther Burden III (2025 second-round pick)
- Colston Loveland (tight end)
The trade suggests Chicago’s front office believes the next generation of receivers is ready to take a bigger role.

Bills Add Proven Playmaker
Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills gain a veteran receiver who can strengthen their passing attack with his experience and versatility.
Moore’s arrival could give Buffalo another reliable target as they continue pursuing a Super Bowl run.
For Williams and the Bears, however, the move means adjusting the offense without one of its most dependable playmakers heading into 2026.
