They paid £105m for Declan Rice. Now Arsenal are ready to spend again.
And this time, the target could be one of Germany’s most complete young midfielders.
Arsenal are reportedly preparing a €50 million bid for Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson — a 21-year-old Swedish international described as “in a league of his own.”

The message is clear: Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are not done building.
The €50m Move That Could Reshape Arsenal’s Midfield
According to reports in Germany, Arsenal are “leading the chase” for Larsson and are preparing an initial offer of €40m plus €10m in add-ons to test Frankfurt’s resolve.
But it won’t be simple.
Eintracht are believed to value the midfielder closer to €65m, meaning negotiations could quickly become tense — especially with Liverpool and Real Madrid also monitoring the situation.

Larsson isn’t a new name on Arsenal’s radar. The Gunners were linked with him as early as 2025, reportedly holding talks with his representatives. No deal materialised then.
This summer could be different.
Why Arteta Wants Him
At 21, Larsson has already made 110 appearances for Frankfurt since joining from Malmö in 2023 — scoring nine goals and adding seven assists.

But the numbers that excite Arsenal aren’t just goals.
• 90% pass completion rate
• 12.4 km covered per game
• Tactical flexibility to play as a deep-lying playmaker or a dynamic No.8
He blends technical security with relentless work rate — two pillars of Arteta’s midfield philosophy.
In a squad where Declan Rice dominates physically and Martin Ødegaard orchestrates creatively, Larsson could be the connective tissue — press-resistant, positionally disciplined, and capable of sustaining tempo.

German reports even describe him as a “plug-and-play” midfielder ready for any elite side.
That kind of profile doesn’t stay available for long.
It’s Not Just Larsson
Sources indicate Arsenal are also tracking two more Frankfurt players:
Nathaniel Brown – Highly rated left-back, also watched by Manchester United.
Nnamdi Collins – Versatile defender compared internally to Ben White, who could potentially depart this summer.
Liverpool and Manchester City are also believed to have scouted Collins.

In other words: Arsenal are planning aggressively.
The Bigger Picture
This isn’t just about adding depth.
It’s about evolution.
Arteta knows the Premier League margins are brutal. Competing with Manchester City requires constant reinforcement — not reactionary signings, but forward-thinking upgrades.
Larsson fits that blueprint.

At 21, he represents longevity. At €50m+, he represents belief.
The question now is whether Frankfurt blink — or whether a bidding war pushes the price even higher.
Because if Arsenal truly see him as “the missing piece,” they may have to go beyond the opening offer.
And with Real Madrid circling, hesitation could be costly.
The summer window hasn’t opened yet.
But Arsenal’s intent already has.
