Is Arsenal about to make their boldest wide move yet?
Anthony Gordonās name has exploded into the conversation ā and now a major voice has declared him an upgrade on Leandro Trossard.
Arsenal Told Anthony Gordon Would Be a Clear Upgrade as Transfer Rumours Intensify

Arsenalās summer planning may already be taking shape ā and one Premier League star is suddenly at the centre of it.
Anthony Gordon.
The Newcastle United winger has been heavily linked with a big-money move to the Emirates in recent days, with reports suggesting Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of the 25-year-old.
Now, respected journalist Henry Winter has added fuel to the fire ā boldly claiming Gordon would improve Arsenalās current wide options.
Speaking on talkSPORTās Sunday Edition, Winter didnāt hold back.

āHe would fit into Arsenal on the left because Leandro Trossard is good⦠Trossardās decent, [Gabriel] Martinelli is decent,ā Winter said.
āBut Gordon, I would say, is an upgrade on them.ā
Thatās a strong statement ā especially considering Trossard and Martinelli have both played key roles in Arsenalās recent rise.
Why Gordon?
Two years ago, Gordon came close to joining Liverpool before committing his future to Newcastle until 2028. Now, Liverpool and Manchester United are again reportedly monitoring him ā but Arsenal appear to be leading the race.
And the numbers make the case interesting.

Gordon has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season ā double Trossardās tally of seven. However, in the Premier League alone, Trossard edges him with five goals compared to Gordonās three.
Where Gordon has truly exploded is in Europe.
The England international has delivered 10 goals in 10 Champions League matches, emerging as Newcastleās biggest attacking weapon on the continental stage.
That kind of output doesnāt go unnoticed.
When it comes to assists, Gordon has five across all competitions, while Trossard has eight. Martinelli, meanwhile, has 11 goals and three assists ā fewer total contributions than Gordon.

In short, the data paints a complex picture.
Trossard may offer steadier domestic numbers. Gordon offers explosive European impact and raw athleticism.
Newcastleās Stance: Not for Sale
Before Arsenal fans get carried away, thereās a major obstacle.
talkSPORT understands Newcastle have no intention of cashing in on Gordon ā and crucially, his contract reportedly contains no release clause.
That means any move would require serious negotiation and serious money.
When asked about the speculation, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe played it cool.

āIām not sure thereās a lot I can do about that,ā Howe said. āWeāre mid-season, in the middle of some of the biggest games of his career.ā
āHeās not got time to look left or right. Heās got to be fully focused.ā
Translation: Newcastle arenāt entertaining the noise ā at least publicly.
A Ruthless Upgrade or Unnecessary Disruption?
For Arsenal, the question isnāt just about talent.
Itās about evolution.

Arteta has built a squad based on chemistry and clarity of roles. Trossard brings versatility and big-game moments. Martinelli offers pace and directness.
But Gordon adds relentless pressing, explosive acceleration, and an edge in transition ā qualities that could elevate Arsenal in Europe.
Calling him an āupgradeā may spark debate, but elite teams donāt stand still.
If Arsenal want to bridge the final gap between contenders and serial winners, bold decisions may be required.
Anthony Gordon might not just be a signing.
He could be a statement.
And if Arsenal truly lead the race, this summer could get very interesting.
