The former Fox News commentator met Brunt on a blind date in 2006. They got married two years later on March 1, 2008, at Oheka Castle in Huntington, N.Y.

The couple became parents when they welcomed son Edward Yates — who goes by his middle name — in September 2009. Daughter Yardley Evans joined the family on April 14, 2011, followed by their youngest child, son Thatcher Bray, on July 23, 2013.

All three children were conceived via in vitro fertilization (IVF). In February 2024, Kelly reflected on the experience, writing on her website that she thanks “God every day for that technology,” adding, “I would not have my three amazing children had it not been for IVF.”

Edward Yates, 16

Kelly and Brunt’s older son, Edward Yates — who goes by his middle name — was born in September 2009.

In April, not long after Kelly and Brunt’s first wedding anniversary, the then-Fox News host announced on-air that she was expecting her first child, telling viewers that her maternity leave would be “brief.”

“People say Yates is my twin, but I think he’s a mini Doug,” Kelly wrote in her book, Settle for More. “He came into this world a sweet old soul and he remains that way to this moment.”

Kelly has shared photos of Yates on social media over the years, including a 2019 photo of the then-10-year-old reading a book and sitting next to the family’s dog, Thunder, whom Yates and his siblings helped name. Two years later, a puppy named Strudwick also joined the family.

In April 2020, Yates, who was in fourth grade, and his family mourned the loss of his music teacher, Dan Sorel, who died after contracting COVID-19. Kelly told PEOPLE that the moment she and Brunt had to break the news to Yates was “awful.”

Soon after, Kelly got help cheering her son up when former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora gave Yates a call and sent over a guitar so they could write a song together and help Yates process his feelings.

Yardley Evans, 14

Kelly and Brunt’s middle child and only daughter, Yardley Evans, was born on April 14, 2011.

In September 2017, PEOPLE asked Kelly what she missed most about life before motherhood, and she immediately responded, “Naps.” Though she could sneak some in when she was a mother of one, that all changed when she and Brunt welcomed Yardley.

“It’s two on two. There’s no downtime for anybody,” she said. “Then we had Thatcher, my third child, and we barely noticed the difference. We had already given up all personal time with the birth of our second child.”

In April 2019, Yardley asked her mom to be her date to her school’s disco party, to which Kelly wrote on X, “There is only one correct response.” Kelly wore shiny silver flared pants to the soiree, while Yardley rocked a colorful metallic dress, matching headband and white leather boots.

Yardley graduated from elementary school in June 2021, which involved “a little celebration on the NYC street,” Kelly wrote on Instagram. However, during the ceremony, Yardley’s younger brother, Thatcher, “broke away & ran to give his sister a hug.”

“My heart,” Kelly wrote.

Thatcher Bray, 12

Fox News’ Shannon Bream announced the news, sharing that the newborn had brown hair and blue eyes.

The news anchor returned to work on The Kelly File nine weeks after giving birth to Thatcher, which she later told More was too soon.

“We set the expectations too high for new mothers,” she said. “I’m always telling women, ‘Don’t expect to not hate it.’ You’re going to feel and look terrible, and you’re going to wonder if you blew up your life. The cruel irony of it is, just at the time you’re loving it and you’ve got it down, you have to go back to work.”

Thatcher faced a serious health scare in March 2022 when he injured his spleen during a family ski trip in Montana. Kelly shared on The Megyn Kelly Show podcast that her son, whom she said was “a good skier,” fell when trying to explore a “cave-like structure that was on the run.”

He suffered internal bleeding and spent time in the ICU but “thankfully, things took a turn for the better.” Thatcher has since made a full recovery.

In July 2023, Kelly paid tribute to her youngest on his 10th birthday, sharing a black-and-white photo of her giving Thatcher a big hug.

“May God bless and keep him and allow as many of these moments as I manage to deserve,” she wrote on Instagram.
