Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes just secured a major off-field win — not on the football field, but in a courtroom. ⚖️🏈

A judge has refused to shut down their Kansas City steakhouse despite a legal challenge over its name.
Judge Rejects Request to Shut Down Kelce and Mahomes’ Kansas City Steakhouse
Kansas City Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes scored a legal victory this week after a judge denied an emergency request to shut down their restaurant 1587 Prime amid a trademark dispute.

The two teammates opened the Kansas City steakhouse in September 2025, but the business soon faced a lawsuit from 1587 Sneakers, a footwear brand that claims the restaurant’s name could cause confusion with its own trademark.
The sneaker company sought an emergency order that would have forced the restaurant to stop advertising, selling or promoting products under the “1587” branding.
Why the Judge Rejected the Request

U.S. District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald ruled against the emergency shutdown request.
The judge cited a “significant delay” by the sneaker company in filing for emergency action — noting that the request came five months after the restaurant opened.
She also pointed out that there was no indication the defendants had been properly served with the lawsuit when the emergency order was requested.
Because of these issues, the court refused to halt the restaurant’s operations.
Lawsuit Still Ongoing
While the ruling is a win for Kelce and Mahomes, the legal battle is not over.
The judge’s decision does not dismiss the trademark lawsuit, meaning the case could still proceed through the courts.

Trademark attorney Josh Gerben previously suggested the sneaker company could face challenges proving its claim.
He explained that trademarks can often coexist in different industries, raising the question of whether consumers would realistically confuse a restaurant brand with a sneaker company.
Hope for an Amicable Resolution
1587 Sneakers co-founder Adam King said the company still hopes the situation can be resolved without prolonged legal conflict.

“We have communicated a sincere belief that there is room for mutual respect and understanding,” King said. “That belief has not changed.”
Kelce Also Expected to Return in 2026
The courtroom victory came just days before another major update involving Kelce.
According to reports from ESPN’s Nate Taylor, the veteran tight end is expected to return to the Chiefs for the 2026 season, despite speculation about retirement.

Kelce has not formally confirmed his decision, but multiple indications suggest he plans to continue playing alongside Mahomes.
For now, the star duo can celebrate a legal win — while their Kansas City steakhouse continues serving customers. 🍽️
