Prince William and Princess Catherine have shared a very special message on their social media accounts today to mark King Charles’ birthday. The Prince and Princess of Wales are believed to have sent warm wishes to the King privately, but have also marked the occasion publicly

Sharing the new portrait of His Majesty released today to mark his 77th birthday, Prince William and his wife wrote: “Happy Birthday to His Majesty The King!” The message was followed with a birthday cake emoji.

It is not known whether William, 43, will also have a chance to see his father today as the King is set to be busy carrying out official royal engagements.
However, it is believed the family will have tried to make His Majesty’s day special with sweet gifts made by Prince William and Catherine’s three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold, who worked for the King when he was The Prince of Wales between 2004 and 2011, told The Mirror: “Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will definitely have a special present for their Grandpa.

“I think they might make him homemade cards as well, which all grandparents love to receive.
“Kate and William love doing arts and crafts with the children, so I expect they will make something extra special.”
The new portrait of King Charles, released today on the Royal Family’s social media account to mark his 77th birthday, was taken by Millie Pilkington in May at the Sandringham estate.
The photograph shows the King looking relaxed in the gardens of his private estate.
