When Klint Kubiak left Seattle to become the Raiders’ head coach, many expected him to bring a familiar offensive weapon with him.
Instead, the first Seahawks player he added in Las Vegas came from an unexpected place: special teams.

Seahawks WR Dareke Young Signs With Klint Kubiak’s Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders continue reshaping their roster under new head coach Klint Kubiak, and their latest addition comes from a familiar place.
The Raiders have signed former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Dareke Young, the team announced Friday.
While the financial details of the contract have not been disclosed, the move marks the first time Kubiak has brought a player from his former Seahawks roster to Las Vegas.

A Seahawks Special Teams Standout
Young, 26, originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick in the 2022 draft after playing college football at Division II Lenoir-Rhyne University.
During his four seasons in Seattle, Young made the majority of his impact on special teams rather than as a wide receiver.
The 6-foot-2, 224-pound player became a reliable contributor in that phase of the game.
Across his Seahawks career, he:
- Played 150+ special teams snaps in three different seasons
- Logged a career-high 231 special teams snaps in 2024
- Recorded 24 tackles on special teams
His ability to contribute in multiple roles made him a valuable depth piece for Seattle’s roster.
Limited Production as a Receiver

Although Young spent time in the Seahawks’ wide receiver room, his offensive opportunities were limited.
Over four seasons in Seattle, he finished with:
- 4 receptions
- 72 receiving yards
- 6 targets
Despite the modest offensive production, his size and physicality made him an asset in blocking and coverage units.

The Raiders may look to expand his offensive role or continue using him primarily as a special teams contributor.
Part of a Seahawks Free Agency Exodus
Young is now one of several Seahawks players who have moved to new teams during the 2026 offseason.

Other Seattle free agents who signed elsewhere include:
- Kenneth Walker III (RB)
- Boye Mafe (EDGE)
- Riq Woolen (CB)
- Coby Bryant (S)
Meanwhile, the Seahawks retained a few key players by re-signing:
- CB Josh Jobe
- WR Rashid Shaheed
- OT Josh Jones
Young’s departure continues a significant reshuffling of Seattle’s roster after their championship run.
Raiders Continue Building Under Kubiak
For Kubiak, the signing represents another small step in building the roster he wants in Las Vegas.
Young may not be the headline-grabbing addition fans expected, but players with strong special teams value often play key roles in building a complete roster.

And for Young, the move to Las Vegas offers a fresh opportunity.
Whether he becomes a larger part of the Raiders’ offense or continues as a core special teams contributor, he now begins the next chapter of his NFL career under a familiar coach.
