The defending Super Bowl champions already look unstoppable ā but the Seattle Seahawks might still be preparing their next big move.
And surprisingly, it may not involve a flashy playmaker at all.

Seahawks Could Strengthen Championship Run With Smart First-Round Draft Move
The Seattle Seahawks enter the upcoming NFL season riding one of the most impressive streaks in football. Head coach Mike Macdonaldās squad has won 10 consecutive games, dominating opponents along the way.
During that stretch, Seattle has outscored teams 290ā145, a remarkable margin that highlights just how balanced and dangerous the roster has become.

With momentum on their side and a championship pedigree already established, the Seahawks donāt appear to have many glaring weaknesses. However, one analyst believes Seattle still has a critical opportunity to improve ā and it could come in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft.
Protecting Sam Darnold Could Be the Priority
According to Pro Football Focus analyst John Kosko, Seattleās ideal scenario in the draft may be reinforcing the offensive line.
Kosko predicts the Seahawks could select Oregon offensive lineman Emmanuel Pregnon with the No. 32 overall pick.
While that choice might not grab headlines, it could prove crucial for the teamās long-term success.
Seattleās offense currently revolves around Pro Bowl quarterback Sam Darnold, and keeping him protected could be the most important step toward another championship run.
āSeattle is going to have a tough time holding onto all of the talent it has acquired over the past three seasons,ā Kosko explained. āBut with Mike Macdonaldās ability to scheme defensively, protecting Sam Darnold should be the priority this offseason.ā
Offensive Line Took a Major Step Forward
The Seahawks already made major progress along the offensive front last season.
In 2024, Seattle struggled badly in pass protection, allowing 54 sacks. But in 2025, that number was dramatically reduced to 27 sacks, cutting the total exactly in half.
The improvement helped stabilize the offense and gave Darnold more time to operate inside the pocket.
Seattleās run game also benefited from the stronger line play.
After ranking 28th in rushing yards per game in both 2023 and 2024, the Seahawks jumped all the way to 10th in the league in 2025, demonstrating a significant step forward in offensive balance.
Still, analysts believe there is room to improve ā especially on the interior of the offensive line.
Emmanuel Pregnon Could Be the Perfect Fit
If Seattle chooses to invest another first-round pick in the trenches, Emmanuel Pregnon could be an ideal candidate.
The Oregon standout delivered a dominant final college season, earning an 86.7 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.
More impressively, Pregnon allowed only five total pressures during the season and surrendered just one sack over the past three years.
His performance in the run game also stood out. Pregnon posted an elite 93.0 zone run-blocking grade, making him especially appealing for offenses that rely on zone-running concepts.
Although he primarily played guard at Oregon, Pregnonās versatility could give Seattle flexibility along the offensive line.
He may need to shift to right guard, particularly with Grey Zabel already established at left guard, but Pregnon has experience there ā logging 55 snaps at the position in 2025.
Seahawks Have a History of Investing in the Trenches
Selecting Pregnon would continue a noticeable trend for Seattle general manager John Schneider.
In recent years, the Seahawks have repeatedly prioritized strengthening the offensive line through the draft.
Seattle selected Charles Cross in the first round in 2022, then reinforced the interior by drafting Grey Zabel in 2025.
If Pregnon becomes the pick at No. 32, it would mark the third time in five years the Seahawks used a first-round selection on an offensive lineman.
For a team already stacked with talent, the move wouldnāt be about fixing a weakness ā it would be about protecting the foundation of a championship offense.
Building for Another Title Run
With a dominant defense, an improving offensive line, and a quarterback playing at a high level, the Seahawks already look like one of the NFLās most complete teams.
But championship organizations rarely stand still.
If Seattle adds another powerful blocker in the first round, it could ensure that Sam Darnold ā and the Seahawksā high-powered offense ā remain protected as the team pushes for another Super Bowl run.
And sometimes, the smartest moves are the ones made quietly in the trenches.
