The Gist
- Whoopi Goldberg celebrated her 70th birthday on The View on November 14.
- Her co-star, Joy Behar, sent a birthday gift she has become known for.
- After hurting her foot, Joy Behar was off of The View for most of this week, but eventually returned on November 14.
Whoopi Goldberg turned the milestone age of 70 on November 13, and Goldbergâs The View co-host Joy Behar had a special, albeit unexpected, gift for her.
Behar has been off of the show for a few days dealing with a foot injury, but was thoughtful enough to send a lasagna to Goldberg for her big day on Thursday. As she walked onstage to a display reading âHappy birthday Whoopi,â Goldbergâs other co-hosts presented her with Beharâs famous lasagna.
âAs you can see, Joy is not here, but she will be back,â Goldberg said, before Sunny Hostin added, âHowever, Joy has sent you her lasagna.â
âShe has been home baking, and she said to please enjoy it before the costs of tariffs hit,â Hostin added.
Elsewhere in the episode, Goldberg danced to the Staple Singersâ 1972 hit âRespect Yourselfââchosen for a deliberate reason. âI walked out to one of my favorite songs,â Goldberg explained. âPeople ask me why that song. Itâs because itâs my birthday and because thatâs my mantra these daysârespect yourself. If you donât respect yourself, nobodyâs gonna do it.â
Now that sheâs 70, what dreams does the successful Goldberg have yet to attain? She told The View producer Brian Teta in Thursdayâs episode of the showâs âBehind the Tableâ podcast, âI know this is the craziest thing ever, and it will never happen while [The View] is going on, but I still want to represent our country in another country.â
âIâve always wanted to be an ambassador,â she added.
Thursday marked the third scheduled appearance on The View that Behar had missed this week, and Goldberg explained her absence on the November 12 episode of the show. She announced that Behar had âhurt her foot,â and Behar eventually returned to the show on November 14.
âNow, Iâve been off for a few days,â Behar said. âI dropped my iPad on my foot and I broke my toe. And they put the toes together because itâs broken, and itâs very, very, very painful. I do not recommend you dropping anything on your toes.â
