WWE superstar Chelsea Green is expanding her career beyond professional wrestling with a cameo appearance in the upcoming television series “Hate the Player: The Ben Johnson Story.”
The satirical comedy series, which will air on GameTV and Paramount+, focuses on the infamous story of Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson, whose career became one of the most controversial in Olympic history.
Green confirmed her involvement shortly after the trailer for the series debuted.
“Excited to be a small part of such a big story!!” Green wrote on social media.
A Story Based on a Historic Olympic Scandal
The series centers on the dramatic events surrounding the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.
Johnson originally won the 100-meter gold medal, but just three days later he was stripped of the title after testing positive for the banned steroid stanozolol.
The scandal became one of the most infamous doping controversies in sports history.
Johnson later admitted to using steroids during the 1987 World Championships, which triggered a major investigation in Canada known as the Dubin Inquiry that revealed widespread doping in track and field.
Series Blends Fact and Fiction
According to producers, “Hate the Player” will mix real history with exaggerated storytelling.
The show is described as a satirical comedy that “blurs the line between fact, fiction and fever dream.”
The storyline follows Johnson as he attempts to self-fund a documentary to clear his name.
The role of Johnson will be played by actor Shamier Anderson, known for his performances in “John Wick: Chapter 4” and “Wynonna Earp.”
Green Joins Several Canadian Athletes in the Cast
Chelsea Green is one of several Canadian athletes making cameo appearances in the series.
Other notable figures involved include:
- Amber Balcaen (NASCAR driver)
- Elvis Stojko (Olympic silver medalist figure skater)
Green’s exact role in the series has not yet been revealed.
