Megyn Kelly‘s eyebrow-raising comments about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein did not go unnoticed by The Daily Show.
On a recent edition of The Megyn Kelly Show, the conservative political commentator referenced someone who’s “very, very close to this case” who believes Epstein “was not a pedophile,” because “he was into the barely legal type,” namely 15-year-old girls.
“There’s a difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old, you know?,” the former Fox News host argued. “It’s just whatever. It’s sick.”
The Daily Show host Josh Johnson was not willing to shrug off Kelly’s comments on Thursday’s episode of the satirical news show. He argued that conservatives need someone like her, a “master of spin,” to defend President Donald Trump, after he was referenced by name several times in newly released Epstein emails.
“Show us what you got,” he said of Kelly, before playing a clip of her pedophile comments.
“How the hell was Megyn Kelly ever an attorney?” Johnson asked, before doing an impression. “Your Honor, my client only engaged in diet pedophilia.”

“Ma’am, everyone knows there is a big difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old,” Johnson said. “But everyone also knows there is never a good reason to be talking about that difference.”
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Kelly for comment.
Epstein, who was convicted of soliciting a minor for prostitution in Florida in 2008, was charged with sex trafficking minors and conspiracy to sex traffic minors in New York in 2019. He died by apparent suicide in his jail cell ahead of his trial.

A collection of emails to and from Epstein was released by the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, renewing interest in the relationship between the late sex offender and the current president. Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., in 1997.

In the documents, Epstein appeared critical of Trump. In one email to journalist Michael Wolff, Epstein claimed of Trump, “Of course he knew about the girls,” and in another to confidant Ghislaine Maxwell in 2011, he wrote that Trump “spent hoursā at Epsteinās house with a sex trafficking victim.

None of the documents showed Epstein directly accusing Trump of any crime. Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and has never been charged with criminal activity in relation to Epstein.
“These emails prove absolutely absolutely nothing other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong,” white House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Wednesday.
The Daily Show airs at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.
