Liberal loudmouth Rep. Jasmine Crockett gave a mind-boggling explanation for why she accused Lee Zeldin and other Republicans on the House floor of taking donations from Jeffrey Epstein — desperately insisting she never said she was referring to the late convicted pedophile.

Crockett (D-Texas) tried to defend herself Wednesday night in a CNN appearance after she was ripped for boldly implying that she’d found evidence linking the Long Island Republican and other prominent GOPers to the disgraced financier, who died in 2019.

“Listen, I never said that it was that Jeffrey Epstein,” Crockett told “The Source” host Kaitlan Collins after being given the chance to correct the record.

“Just so that people understand, when you make a donation, your picture is not there. And because they decided to spring this on us, in real time, I wanted the Republicans to think about what could potentially happen, because I knew that they didn’t even try to go through the [Federal Election Commission].”

The lawmaker, who has publicly stated she is considering a Senate run next year, then brazenly tried to blame the GOP for making her statements the record without verifying them.

“So my team, what they did is they Googled, and that is specifically why I said a Jeffrey Epstein. Unlike Republicans, I at least don’t go out and just tell lies,” she told Collins. “Because it was not the same one? That’s fine. But when Lee Zeldin had something to say, all he had to say was, it was a different Jeffrey Epstein. He admitted that he did receive donations from a Jeffrey Epstein. So, at least I wasn’t trying to mislead people … I literally had maybe 20 minutes before I had to do that debate.”

Crockett made the jaw-dropping remarks Tuesday night in defense of Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D-USVI), who was facing censure by the House after text messages released last week revealed Epstein coached her through questioning of President Trump’s then-fixer, Michael Cohen, during a February 2019 House Oversight Committee hearing.

“Folks who also took money from somebody named Jeffrey Epstein, as I had my team dig in very quickly: Mitt Romney, the NRCC, Lee Zeldin, George Bush, WinRed, McCain-Palin, Rick Lazio,” she said after Republicans revealed that supporters of now-House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) invited Epstein to a private meet-and-greet in 2013.

Unlike in Zeldin’s case, there was no question that Plaskett was communicating with the convicted sex offender, as copies of the messages were included in documents turned over to the Oversight Committee by Epstein’s estate and made public Nov. 12.

Zeldin, now head of the Environmental Protection Agency, quickly pointed out the Texan’s smear, arguing that Federal Election Commission filings clearly showed two different men named Jeffrey Epstein had donated to him — months after the disgraced financier hanged himself in prison in August 2019.

“Yes Crockett, a physician named Dr. Jeffrey Epstein (who is a totally different person than the other Jeffrey Epstein) donated to a prior campaign of mine,” Zeldin fired off in a post on X. “NO FREAKIN RELATION YOU GENIUS!!!”

Despite the New Yorker’s public clarification, Crockett continued to try to sow doubt Wednesday night.

“Have I dug in to find out who this doctor is? I have not, so I will trust and take what he says that it wasn’t that Jeffrey Epstein. But I was not attempting to mislead anybody,” she claimed.

The FEC filings that Crockett referenced show a Dr. Jeffrey Epstein of Manhasset donated $1,000 to Zeldin in April and August 2020.

Another Jeffrey Epstein, the owner of a beverage distribution company from New Brunswick, NJ, donated $600 in February 2020, according to the FEC records.

Zeldin later blasted Crockett’s bizarre defense, saying: “When you find yourself in a hole, it’s best to stop digging.”

Others joined in the criticism, with CNN pundit Scott Jennings commenting on X that Crockett’s performance made her “literally the perfect modern Democrat.

“Absolutely perfect. I hope everyone sees this. Just 10/10, no notes performance.”

“Truly insane spin,” added Washington Free Beacon reporter Chuck Ross. “Crockett defends saying that Epstein donated to Lee Zeldin. Said she only had 20 minutes to search FEC docs — not enough time to figure out if it was the Epstein. Funny, b/c it took me 2 minutes to figure it out last night.”

“This is ridiculous,” agreed former CNN and Washington Post commentator Chris Cillizza. “She clearly meant to insinuate the donations were from that Jeffrey Epstein. Why can no one say ‘I was wrong and I am sorry’ anymore?”

“This exchange,” summed up Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY), “is an embarrassment to this institution on every level.”
