A massive NFL rumor has Bears fans dreaming big — but according to some analysts, those dreams might be costing them real money.

Because the buzz around Maxx Crosby to Chicago is exploding… even though the deal might make almost no sense.
Maxx Crosby to the Bears? Betting Frenzy Explodes Despite Major Doubts
The Chicago Bears have suddenly become one of the hottest names linked to Las Vegas Raiders superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby. But while excitement is building among fans, analysts are warning that the hype may be fueled more by speculation than reality.
And sportsbooks are quietly benefiting from it.

According to DraftKings betting odds, the Bears have surged to become the most likely team to land Crosby next season, overtaking even the Raiders themselves.
In fact, Chicago’s odds recently jumped dramatically — rising from roughly 23% to nearly 48% in just 24 hours.
That surge isn’t necessarily driven by inside information.
It’s driven by where fans are putting their money.
Why the Odds Suddenly Favor Chicago

Sports betting markets adjust based on wagering patterns. When large numbers of bettors back a specific outcome, sportsbooks shift the odds to limit their exposure.
And right now, Bears fans are betting heavily that Crosby will end up in Chicago.
But there’s one major problem with the theory.
Maxx Crosby is not a free agent.

Any team hoping to acquire the Raiders’ defensive superstar would have to complete a massive trade.
And according to reports from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Las Vegas is still demanding a huge return:
two first-round picks plus an additional player.
That’s a steep price for any team — and it raises questions about whether Chicago is actually positioned to make such a move.
Why Dallas Might Make More Sense
Some analysts believe another team is far better positioned to make a serious run at Crosby.
The Dallas Cowboys.
Dallas currently holds four first-round picks over the next two years, including the 12th and 20th selections in this year’s draft. That kind of draft capital makes it far easier to construct the type of trade package Las Vegas reportedly wants.

The Cowboys have also been aggressively creating salary cap space.
Owner Jerry Jones recently restructured several major contracts — including Dak Prescott’s deal — freeing roughly $66 million in cap room.
Additional restructures involving Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark, and Osa Odighizuwa could create even more flexibility.
All signs suggest Dallas is preparing to make a major roster move.
And their defensive struggles make Crosby an obvious target.
Last season, the Cowboys’ defense allowed the most points in the NFL, finished 30th overall, and ranked near the bottom in both sacks and takeaways.
Adding one of the league’s most dominant pass rushers could immediately change that picture.
The Bears’ Situation Is More Complicated
While Crosby would undeniably improve Chicago’s defense, the Bears may not be in the best position to make the deal.
Chicago’s most valuable trade asset in the upcoming draft is the 25th overall pick, which doesn’t carry nearly the same value as the Cowboys’ top selections.
The Bears also have a tighter salary cap situation.
Even though the team could restructure contracts to create space, general manager Ryan Poles has repeatedly stated that he wants to avoid pushing too much financial burden into the future.
That philosophy could make a massive contract extension for Crosby difficult to justify.

And Chicago’s roster still has other pressing needs — particularly along the offensive line, where recent developments have created additional holes.
Why the Rumors Won’t Go Away
Despite the logistical hurdles, the Crosby-to-Chicago rumors continue to gain momentum.
Some prominent NFL analysts have mentioned the Bears as a potential fit, noting that Crosby’s skill set would align well with Chicago’s defensive scheme.
The idea is appealing.
Crosby is widely considered one of the most relentless pass rushers in football — a player capable of transforming a defense almost overnight.
But appealing doesn’t always mean realistic.
A Betting Frenzy Built on Hope
For now, sportsbooks are watching the situation closely — and quietly benefiting from the wave of optimistic wagers coming from Bears fans.
Whether Chicago actually makes a move for Crosby remains uncertain.
But one thing is clear.
Until a trade truly materializes, the biggest winners in this situation might not be the Bears or the Raiders.
It might be the sportsbooks collecting all those bets.
