Imagine Tom Brady as part of the Trump family.
According to a new memoir, that reality was once closer than anyone knew — until one phone call changed everything.

Donald Trump Reportedly Pushed for Ivanka Trump to Date Tom Brady — But She Never Called Him Back
Long before seven Super Bowls became legend and before politics blurred every headline, there was apparently a missed connection that could have reshaped celebrity history.
In his upcoming memoir Young Man in a Hurry: A Memoir of Discovery, California Governor Gavin Newsom recounts a surprising story: Donald Trump once hoped his daughter Ivanka would date NFL icon Tom Brady.

And according to the account, Brady actually made the first move.
The Marine One Conversation That Turned Awkward
Newsom writes about a 2018 helicopter ride aboard Marine One with then-President Trump and Jared Kushner, Ivanka’s husband. What began as routine conversation reportedly veered into personal territory when Trump reminisced about a time Brady was single.
According to Newsom, Brady had once asked Trump for Ivanka’s phone number at a social function. Trump allegedly passed it along.

Brady called.
He left a message.
And Ivanka never called him back.
Newsom claims Brady later told Trump about the unanswered call. That prompted Trump, as the memoir recounts, to confront his daughter.
“Jesus, you know, Tom Brady,” Trump allegedly said. “What the hell is going on? Why aren’t you calling this guy back?”
Ivanka’s response? She was in love with Jared Kushner.
The book describes an uncomfortable pause as Trump gestured toward Kushner during the story — even joking that Brady would have been the better option.
“Not even close, right, Gavin? Tom Brady. Tom Brady,” Trump reportedly quipped.

Brady Addresses the Rumors
Tom Brady has previously acknowledged speculation about the situation.
During a 2020 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Brady confirmed the rumors had circulated — but downplayed them.
“That was a long time ago in my life,” he said. “Did I consider dating her? No, there was never really that where we ever dated or anything like that.”
In other words: a phone call, not a romance.
Two Very Different Life Paths
Ivanka married Jared Kushner in 2009. The couple has three children and Kushner later served as a senior adviser during Trump’s presidency from 2017 to 2021.

Brady, meanwhile, built a Hall of Fame résumé — seven Super Bowl titles, a two-decade dynasty in New England, and a championship encore in Tampa Bay.
His personal life included high-profile relationships with actress Bridget Moynahan and supermodel Gisele Bündchen, whom he married in 2009 before divorcing in 2022.
The idea of Brady entering the Trump family now feels like an alternate-universe subplot — one that never materialized beyond a voicemail.
A “What If” That Stayed a What If
If Newsom’s account is accurate, the moment was brief but revealing — a glimpse into how celebrity, sports royalty and political power once intersected in a surprisingly personal way.
But in the end, there was no secret relationship. No hidden fling.

Just one unanswered call.
And a reminder that even the most legendary quarterback of all time doesn’t always get a callback.
