Rep. Jasmine Crockett had some choice words for rival Marjorie Taylor Greene following the former Trump ally’s surprise resignation from Congress.
On Friday, Nov. 21, Greene, 51, revealed that she will resign from her post as representative for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District in early 2026, an announcement that came amid her increasingly fractured public relationship with President Donald Trump.
Reacting to her longtime rival’s planned departure from Congress, Crockett, 44, told CNN‘s Jake Tapper during a Sunday, Nov. 23, interview, that the former Trump ally couldn’t handle the “heat” from being on the “opposite side” of the president.
Sharing her initial thoughts after learning of Greene’s departure, Crockett told Tapper, “You know what? Honestly, I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’ ”Marjorie Taylor Greene in 2024.

“You’re on the other side of the president for one week, and you can’t take the heat? Imagine what it is to sit in my shoes, to not only be on the opposite side of him, but to have people like her who are constantly fanning the flames of hate,” the Democratic congresswoman and lawyer continued. “And imagine what those threats look like when you literally are someone like me.”
Crockett added that, regardless of the public fallout between Greene and Trump, 79, her true focus lies with Texas’s 30th congressional district, for which she is a representative.
“But at the end of the day, I know that I serve the people of Texas 30,” she told CNN. “So my job isn’t to be there and necessarily do whatever is going to make the president not be on my back, but instead is to focus on making sure that I can push forward with policies that are positive for Texas 30.”
Crockett and Greene’s rivalry gained traction — and made national headlines — in May 2024, when the former delivered her viral “bleach blonde, bad built, butch body” remark in a chaotic moment at a House Oversight Committee meeting. “I don’t think you know what you’re here for. I think your fake eyelashes are messing with your reading,” Greene told Crockett, inspiring backlash from those in attendance, namely New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
After a back-and-forth between Ocasio-Cortez, then 34, and Greene, Crockett tossed back her viral jab: “I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling. If somebody on this committee starts talking about somebody’s bleach-blonde, bad-built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”

Greene announced her resignation — effective Jan. 5, 2026 — in a lengthy video statement on X, a week after Trump announced that he would withdraw his endorsement of Greene.
In the video, Greene said she refuses “to be a ‘battered wife’ hoping it all goes away and gets better.”Jasmine Crockett in January 2024.

Crockett first reacted to Greene’s resignation on X, writing, “I’m going to be honest … I didn’t see this coming but the threats that come with being on the opposite side of Trump ARE REAL!”
“People need to wake up! Trump only knows how to use people up & then cast them aside when he’s done… he did it to his VP, he’s done it to those that wanted the Epstein files, he did it to those that believed he cared about their struggles, & now he’s doing it to one of his most loyal followers, MTG,” continued the Texas congresswoman, in part.
She concluded the post by stating that her office extended an olive branch by reaching out to Greene’s “to work on some member safety legislation.”
“I’m serious about working collaboratively on this effort if there is an interest,” added Crockett. “We can get it drafted before January.”
