Las Vegas football is roaring back to life, and the crown jewel isn’t a draft pick—it’s a familiar face returning to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks.
The Las Vegas Raiders may have just pulled off one of the most unexpected coups of the offseason: getting Maxx Crosby back in the fold. What first looked like a devastating loss—a trade to the Baltimore Ravens—turned into what head coach Klint Kubiak now calls “another free-agent signing.”
Crosby, the team’s franchise-defining pass rusher, returned to Las Vegas under circumstances that left fans shaking their heads in disbelief.
Speaking at the NFL Annual League Meeting, Kubiak explained the impact of having Crosby back in the building: “He’s in here almost every day, he beats a lot of the coaches in there. A really impressive guy. Being a great player is really important to him.
It kind of felt like we picked up another free-agent signing once we got him back from Baltimore.”
The first-year head coach’s confidence in Crosby isn’t just hype. Despite offseason surgery to repair a meniscus—one reason Baltimore reportedly hesitated on finalizing the trade—Kubiak expects the defensive star to be fully ready once training camp kicks off.
“With the way he works, it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s ready earlier,” Kubiak said, highlighting Crosby’s relentless work ethic and commitment.
Crosby isn’t returning to the same old Raiders, either. Las Vegas has aggressively revamped its roster in the past months, leveraging the flexibility they thought Crosby’s departure would bring.
They poured money into free agency, signing former Ravens center Tyler Linderbaum, off-ball linebackers Nakobe Dean and Quay Walker, wide receiver Jalen Nailor, and trading for cornerback Taron Johnson.
Kubiak stressed that the new additions weren’t just talented—they brought leadership, maturity, and a winning mentality. “It all starts with having quality people that the young guys are gonna want to follow,” he said.

Crosby, of course, tops that list as the veteran anchor and honorary cherry on top of what could be a transformative era for the Raiders.
With Las Vegas holding the No. 1 pick in April’s draft and a freshly fortified roster, the stage is set for a new chapter in franchise history.

If Crosby’s return is any indication, Kubiak’s first season as head coach could be the turning point Raider Nation has waited decades to see.
