A night at Dodger Stadium meant for family fun has turned into a legal battle that’s grabbing national headlines.
One thrown drink — and now the Los Angeles Dodgers are facing a lawsuit that could spark a bigger debate about fan safety in sports venues.

Fan Files Lawsuit Against Dodgers After Allegedly Being Struck by Alcoholic BuzzBallz Drink During Game
LOS ANGELES — What began as a dream family trip to California has spiraled into a legal showdown involving one of baseball’s most iconic franchises.
A woman from North Carolina has filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles Dodgers, claiming the team’s negligence led to a painful and traumatic incident at Dodger Stadium when she was struck by a BuzzBallz alcoholic drink during a game.
The lawsuit, filed by Jennifer Wagner, alleges that the spherical cocktail container — roughly the size of a tennis ball — was “thrown, dropped, or otherwise propelled” from a higher seating area, striking her in the shoulder while she was seated below.

According to the legal complaint, the impact caused immediate pain, swelling, and bruising, and Wagner claims the injury temporarily robbed her of the normal use of her arm.
But the alleged consequences extended far beyond the stadium.
A Vacation That Fell Apart
Wagner says the incident occurred during an August 6 Dodgers game, while she was visiting Los Angeles with her two young children for a long-planned vacation.
What was supposed to be a four-day family trip filled with baseball and Disneyland quickly unraveled.
“As a direct result of the incident, plaintiff’s planned four-day family vacation to Los Angeles and Disneyland was substantially disrupted,” the lawsuit states.

Instead of enjoying theme parks and sightseeing, Wagner claims she was forced to deal with the physical pain and emotional stress that followed the stadium incident.
Her children, who were sitting with her at the time, reportedly witnessed the impact and were left frightened and emotionally distressed, according to the filing.
The Controversial Drink Container
At the center of the lawsuit is BuzzBallz, a brand of ready-to-drink cocktails known for their distinctive round plastic containers.

The drinks are popular at stadiums and events because of their portability and compact size.
However, Wagner’s lawsuit argues that the shape and design of the container can also make it dangerous when thrown or dropped from higher seating areas.
Her legal claim argues that the Dodgers should have anticipated the risk of injuries if such containers were mishandled by fans.
The complaint accuses the organization of failing to properly warn spectators about the potential hazards.
Allegations of Negligence and Premises Liability
The lawsuit includes two major claims against the Dodgers:
Negligence – alleging the team failed to provide a safe environment for fans.
Premises liability – arguing that the stadium allowed a hazardous condition to exist by serving alcoholic drinks in containers capable of causing injury.

Wagner claims the organization should have foreseen the possibility that a drink could be thrown or fall from higher seating areas and harm spectators below.
She is seeking unspecified damages, including compensation for:
- Physical injuries
- Emotional distress
- Medical expenses
- Loss of enjoyment of her vacation
Her legal filing also demands a jury trial.
Dodgers Remain Silent
The Dodgers organization has declined to comment on the case.
A team spokesperson said the franchise does not address pending litigation.
BuzzBallz, the beverage brand at the center of the dispute, has also not issued a public response regarding the lawsuit.

A Strange Week for BuzzBallz Headlines
The lawsuit arrives during an unusual week for the beverage brand in Los Angeles.
In a separate and unrelated case, a man was recently sentenced to 45 days in jail and one year of probation after filming himself giving alcohol from a BuzzBallz container to a captured Cooper’s hawk, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The bizarre video, posted online with captions like “Hawk loves him some buzz ball,” sparked widespread outrage and led to animal cruelty charges.
A Broader Conversation About Stadium Safety
While stadium incidents involving thrown objects are rare, Wagner’s lawsuit raises broader questions about fan behavior and safety at major sporting venues.
Professional teams typically enforce strict rules about dangerous conduct inside stadiums, but unpredictable fan actions can still lead to unexpected accidents.
Whether the courts ultimately determine responsibility may take months — or even years — to resolve.
For now, what was meant to be a joyful day at the ballpark has turned into a high-profile legal dispute that could place new scrutiny on stadium policies across Major League Baseball.
