Seattle, Washington ā The Seattle Seahawks could soon face a difficult decision regarding star running back Kenneth Walker III, who is set to hit free agency and may command a significant payday on the open market.

If Walker ultimately signs elsewhere, a potential successor may have just announced himself to the NFL world during the 2026 Scouting Combine.
That player is Arkansas running back Mike Washington Jr.
A Combine Performance That Turned Heads

Washington made one of the biggest impressions among running backs at the combine thanks to his remarkable athletic testing.
The 6-foot-1, 223-pound runner showcased elite speed and explosiveness, posting:
- 4.33-second 40-yard dash
- 10-foot-8 broad jump
- 39-inch vertical leap
Those numbers ranked him near the top of the running back class and highlighted the rare combination of size, power, and speed that NFL teams covet.

His performance also carried a strong emotional moment.
After completing his 40-yard dash, Washington became visibly emotional during an interview with NFL Networkās Stacey Dales.
āIām so emotional, man,ā Washington said. āI worked my entire life for this.ā
A Player Who Fits the Seahawksā Culture

That type of passion and authenticity could make Washington a strong cultural fit in Seattle.
Head coach Mike Macdonald has emphasized building a roster filled with players who are both talented and deeply committed to the game.
The Seahawksā Super Bowl-winning season was built on chemistry and emotional investment, and Washingtonās reaction reflected the kind of dedication that resonates inside the organization.
Still a Developing Prospect

While Washingtonās athletic ability stands out, he is not yet a fully polished prospect.
One area scouts have noted is his tendency to hesitate before attacking running lanes in the middle of the line of scrimmage.
Interestingly, that was also a criticism once aimed at Kenneth Walker, who improved in that area as his NFL career progressed.
Washington also needs to improve ball security, as he recorded several fumbles during his college career.
A Long College Journey
Washingtonās path to the NFL has been unique.
He played at three different schools during his college career:
- Buffalo (three seasons)
- New Mexico State (one season)
- Arkansas (final season)
His best year came in his final season with Arkansas, when he rushed for:
- 1,066 yards
- 6.4 yards per carry
- 8 touchdowns
He also averaged 3.86 yards after first contact, showing the strength and physicality needed to break tackles at the next level.
A Possible Second-Round Target

After his standout combine performance, Washington is now projected by some analysts as a potential second-round pick.
That range could align perfectly with Seattleās draft strategy.
The Seahawks selected Kenneth Walker in the second round in 2022 and Zach Charbonnet in the second round in 2023, demonstrating the teamās willingness to invest high draft capital in running backs.
If Walker departs in free agency, Washington could become a logical candidate to step into a similar role.
For now, the Seahawksā offseason remains uncertain.
But one thing is clear: Mike Washington Jr. has put himself firmly on the NFL radarāand possibly on Seattleās draft board as well.
