The Seattle Seahawks made a quiet but important decision after their Super Bowl season.
One veteran receiver who played a key role in the championship run is now officially set to return.

Cooper Kupp Set to Return to Seahawks for 2026 Season After Contract Trigger
The Seattle Seahawks will keep veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp on the roster for the 2026 NFL season after a key clause in his contract became fully guaranteed.
Seattle originally signed Kupp to a three-year, $45 million deal last offseason, including $26.5 million in guaranteed money.
Part of that guarantee depended on whether Kupp remained on the roster five days after Super Bowl LX.
Now that deadline has passed — and Kupp is still with the team — an additional $9 million in salary has officially become guaranteed, strongly indicating he will return for the upcoming season.

Seahawks Never Seriously Considered Moving On
While the contract clause technically gave Seattle an option to move on from Kupp, the team never appeared likely to cut the veteran receiver after only one year.
Even though his regular-season statistics dipped, Kupp remained an important contributor both on and off the field.
During the 2025 season he recorded:
- 47 receptions
- 593 receiving yards
- 2 touchdowns
Those totals marked his lowest production since the 2018 season, when an ACL injury shortened his year.
However, his impact went far beyond the stat sheet.

Veteran Leadership on a Young Roster
The Seahawks entered the season with one of the youngest rosters in the NFL, making Kupp’s experience extremely valuable inside the locker room.
The former Super Bowl MVP provided leadership for a developing offense while helping guide the team during its championship run.
His presence proved particularly important during the playoffs.

Clutch Performances in the Playoffs
Despite modest regular-season numbers, Kupp stepped up in key postseason moments.
He led the Seahawks in receiving in two playoff games, including Super Bowl LX.
One of his biggest plays came in the NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams, where he scored a touchdown that ultimately became the final points Seattle needed to secure the victory.
Those contributions helped Seattle complete its remarkable Super Bowl-winning season.

Looking Ahead to 2026
With Kupp returning, Seattle will keep an experienced veteran in its receiving room as the team prepares to defend its championship.

The Seahawks’ offense is expected to continue evolving around its younger players, but Kupp’s leadership and reliability will remain valuable as the franchise pursues another title run.
