Mike Vrabel Sets New Leadership Standard for Drake Maye in Year 3
Drake Maye already made the leap.
Now Mike Vrabel wants him to make the shift.

After a Pro Bowl season, second-team All-Pro honors, and a runner-up MVP finish at just 23 years old, Maye has firmly established himself as the Patriotsā franchise quarterback.
But Vrabelās new goal for 2026 isnāt about touchdowns.
Itās about accountability.

Make Maye more vocal.

Now Vrabel wants the next evolution.

Vrabel didnāt mention Tom Brady directly ā but everyone in Foxborough knows the comparison.

Brady corrected teammates in practice.
He called out mistakes in meetings.
He demanded precision.
Last year, teammates noted that Maye wasnāt demonstrative when others messed up.
He led ā but quietly.
That wonāt cut it forever in New England.
Vrabel wants a quarterback who doesnāt wait for coaches to step in.
He wants one who polices the standard himself.

Maye doesnāt have a performance problem.

In Year 2 he:
