Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) shared some intriguing insights Thursday on the SiriusXM show “Urban View” about the future of the Democratic Party — and said donors are already eyeing “one specific candidate” to run for president in the 2028 election.
In preview clip shared Friday from the full conversation releasing next week, Crockett — who was joined by Pennsylvania State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta (D), vice chair for the Democratic National Committee — said internal chatter has practically confirmed the candidate will be male.
“It is this fear that the people within the party, within the primary system, will have about voting for a woman because every time we voted for a woman, we’ve lost,” she said in the Instagram clip. “So far. And I think that that’s a natural fear because we just want to win.”
“So there’s a lot of people that are like, ‘You know what? Let’s go find the safest white boy we can find,’” Crockett continued. “I mean, I’m just saying.”
“Urban View” co-host Clay Cane, whose channel regularly covers subjects impacting the Black community — including politics, economics and social issues — chimed in to note that these are the exact assumptions his listeners have been making and calling in to discuss.
“‘A white man’s got to do it,’” Cane confirmed. “We’re getting those callers.”
“No, for real,” Crockett agreed before claiming this is already in motion. “And to be clear, when we talk about them, I can tell you that there is one specific candidate. I had a donor on the phones with me telling me that all the donors are lining up behind that candidate.”
“So I can tell you — and I tell you — it’s not a black person nor a woman, ok?” she continued. “So they, quote unquote ‘they,’ have chosen, and when I say ‘they,’ it’s the same donors that most likely had their opinions about [former President] Joe Biden.”
Biden famously dropped out of last year’s race in July after mounting concern over his cognitive abilities and a disastrous debate performance against his then-GOP opponent Donald Trump, and endorsed then-Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him as nominee.
Her loss in the election frustrated untold Democrats and prompted an internal blame game within the party about its future. While Crockett didn’t name the “one” candidate allegedly being eyed for 2028, one famous pollster believes they will be female.
As for Trump’s repeated suggestion that he will run for a third term, Crockett isn’t having it.
“I know he thinks he’s running again, but that ain’t happening,” she said. “I don’t care what all is going on in this country and I don’t care how many things we won’t say we are absolutely going to do, I am telling y’all with all confidence, he is not running for a third term.”
“That is not a thing,” Crockett concluded.

Eric Swalwell boasts ‘Avengers’ roster of Democratic leaders, forgets Gavin Newsom
Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., praised what he called the “Avengers” roster of Democratic leaders but left out his own state’s governor, Gavin Newsom.
CNN host Kasie Hunt asked the California gubernatorial candidate on Tuesday who he believed the leader of the party was after Democratic strategist James Carville claimed there wouldn’t be one until the presidential election.
Swalwell was more optimistic, comparing current Democratic lawmakers like Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, and Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., to the Marvel superhero team.

“It‘s the Avengers right now, right?” Swalwell said. “You‘ve got Jasmine Crockett coming to California, helping us elevate the vote to pass Prop 50. Ruben Gallego is going to Iowa and New Hampshire as a Marine, Latino, first in his family to go to college. There‘s a bunch of us who are stepping up, but we all understand, you know, the assignment, and that is to bring down prices, period.”
Hunt pointed out that Swalwell did not mention Gov. Gavin Newsom as a potential leader, despite Newsom being considered a possible 2028 presidential candidate.
Gavin Newsom Declared As The Democratic Party’s 2028 ‘Frontrunner’ By Politico
“Well, he is a show, don‘t tell leader,” Swalwell said. “And that‘s why, you know, you‘re seeing also his leadership style being mimicked by others in a good way because some Democratic leaders send eight-page, strongly-worded letters to the president when they don‘t like something. Gavin Newsom goes to the courts and wins to get the troops out of our streets. And he went to the voters and has won to match what Texas did with their redistricting process. That show, not tell style is what people expect right now.”
Swalwell also confirmed to Hunt that his comments were a direct reference to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

The Democratic Party has been searching for new leadership since the 2024 presidential election. Progressive Democrats have increasingly begun turning against current party leaders like Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., over their handling of the government shutdown and the Trump administration.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly labeled Crockett as the future of the Democratic Party, while other Republicans have more broadly suggested progressives like New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.

“He is clearly the leader of the Democratic Party now. And I think it speaks to how open-minded the president is, that he invited him into the Oval,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC Tuesday.
