Bam Adebayo Opens Up About First Meeting With A’ja Wilson While Keeping Valentine’s Plans Under Wraps
Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson have kept their relationship low-key, but the Miami Heat star gave fans a rare glimpse into their story during a recent red-carpet interview. Speaking with Maddy from Enjoy Basketball at the Heat’s annual gala, the three-time All-Star found himself navigating a mix of lighthearted and personal questions.
The conversation began with sneaker talk, as Maddy asked which shoes best complement Miami’s iconic “vice” jerseys. Adebayo didn’t hesitate, highlighting Wilson’s own signature model — the Nike A’One — as his top choice.
When the topic shifted to Valentine’s Day, Adebayo sidestepped the question with a smile. But he became more forthcoming when asked about how he first met “a certain someone.” Even without hearing Wilson’s name, Adebayo instantly made the connection.
“The Olympics,” he replied.
Adebayo and Wilson both represented Team USA during the 2024 Paris Olympics and were also teammates during the Tokyo 2020 Games, giving them plenty of time to build a bond away from the spotlight.

Just days before the gala, Adebayo brought extra attention to Wilson’s upcoming Nike A’One by wearing the unreleased sneakers in Miami’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets. Despite Miami’s 102–86 defeat, Adebayo impressed with 18 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks.
Wilson reacted online with a playful and heartfelt message, encouraging fans to watch her signature shoes “in action” on Adebayo’s feet.
