
Sabrina Ionescu honored with her own day by City of Eugene (New York Liberty)
EUGENE, Ore. — Sabrina Ionescu, a University of Oregon legend and WNBA champion, is set to return to Eugene as the New York Liberty face off in a preseason match tomorrow. In celebration of the sharpshooter’s return, the city has declared May 12th as Sabrina Ionescu Day.
Ionescu’s remarkable achievements include being the first player in NCAA history, male or female, to record 2,000 career points (2,562), 1,000 career rebounds (1,040), and 1,000 career assists (1,091). She is also only the second player in NCAA history to achieve over 2,000 points and 1,000 assists, joining

Ionescu holds the NCAA all-time record for career triple-doubles with 26, surpassing the previous record of 12 set by Kyle Collinsworth of BYU. She also set the NCAA single-season record with eight triple-doubles in both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. Additionally, she finished her career ranked fourth on the NCAA women’s all-time assists list.
