Friendship changes when life gets busy — but Jenna Bush Hager and Savannah Guthrie just proved that when the bond is real, it’s worth chasing down. The Today cohosts recently escaped New York City for a mini-vacation in Florida, and while fans loved seeing them relaxing in the sun, what made the moment especially touching was who planned the entire getaway.
It wasn’t Jenna.
It wasn’t Savannah.
It was Jenna’s 10-year-old daughter, Mila.
On the February 5 episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna, Jenna explained that she and Savannah don’t get to see each other as often anymore — something that feels strange considering their history.
“We used to live next door to each other,” Jenna said. “But now we don’t see each other.”
Busy schedules, school pickups, early morning call times — the moms of young children are constantly juggling life. And the girls — Mila Bush Hager (10) and Vale Guthrie Feldman (9) — missed each other, too.
The idea for the trip started last year after Vale’s baptism. That’s when Mila stepped into her role as vacation coordinator.
“Girls, I feel like we need a girls’ trip,” she reportedly told them.
Vale immediately agreed. And just like that, plans were set before 2024 even began.
Jenna shares Mila, Poppy (7), and Hal (4) with her husband, Henry Hager. Savannah shares Vale and son Charley (7) with husband Michael Feldman. But for this adventure, only the oldest girls were invited — a special treat for the moms and daughters alike.
The crew headed to The Colony Palm Beach — a glamorous, pink-themed boutique hotel perfectly suited for a girls’ weekend of sunshine and pool days.

Jenna captioned her vacation photos:
“The weekend looks better through rose-colored glasses.”
Savannah playfully replied:
“Also, rosé glasses
.”
The images the moms posted capture everything a mother-daughter trip should be — sandy toes, sun-warmed cheeks, and endless giggles.
In one photo, the four are smiling in bright Florida daylight —
Savannah and Vale in breezy sundresses, Jenna in a sleeveless turtleneck top, and Mila bundled in a striped towel after a swim.
Another shows them lounging in matching red-and-white cabana chairs — a postcard-worthy scene.
Jenna also shared a sun-kissed video of Mila learning to surf, braving the waves with confidence beyond her years.
Jenna told cohost Hoda Kotb she didn’t join the surfing lesson:
“She wanted me to surf, but I couldn’t have done what she did at that age.”
For Jenna, the getaway was more than just fun — it was a reminder that relationships, whether longtime or new, require intention.
“What we realized about friends — whether it’s college friends or more recent friends — you really gotta make an effort.”
Both Savannah and Jenna know what it means to nurture strong female relationships — not just with friends, but with their daughters. Their girls are growing up in the public eye, and these moments help strengthen a foundation built on joy, adventure, and trust.
The moms got quality time with each other…
The girls bonded like sisters…
And they all created memories they’ll be laughing about for years.
Back in the New York studio, Hoda Kotb joked that she was “fine, not jealous” after seeing the tropical snaps. As a mother herself — to daughters Haley (6) and Hope (4) — she clearly understood the magic of carving out special time with your kids. But the teasing also revealed what viewers always sense:
The Today team is a family — just one that sometimes needs vacation days.
Among the sandy photos and surfing videos lies a bigger message — one that resonates far beyond Palm Beach:
Life moves fast.
Kids grow faster.
Friendships fade if you don’t hold onto them.
Jenna and Savannah’s daughters saw it first — and chose to pause time. It’s a lesson worth listening to: connection isn’t something you wait for. It’s something you plan.

Even if your calendar says “No.”
Even if the flights are pricey.
Even if the laundry piles up while you’re gone.
Because one sunny weekend can reset everything.
With news desks, family chaos, and public responsibilities always demanding attention, who knows when the moms will get another chance to sneak away? If Mila has anything to do with it… probably sooner than later.
After all, she clearly inherited a Bush family talent for organizing big occasions.
And the takeaway for Jenna and Savannah?
Sometimes the best decisions aren’t made in a newsroom —
but by two little girls wearing swimsuits and sunshine smiles.
