Thick black smoke billowed from SpaceX’s Texas test site, blanketing the sky like a nightmare. The deafening explosion shook the area, glass flew everywhere, and flames and smoke lit up like an inferno. In an instant, the technological dreams of thousands of engineers turned into a sea of fire. And at the center of the tragedy, the name shocked the world: Elon Musk. Police confirmed he died on the spot when the superconducting test battery exploded, turning the control room into ashes.
Witnesses recounted the terrifying moment. “I heard a loud bang like a bomb, a blinding white light, and then all that was left was smoke and screaming,” said a trembling engineer who had just escaped. Paparazzi at the SpaceX gate immediately recorded the chaotic scene: thousands of employees in protective suits running away, some holding their heads, some crying, fire trucks blaring in the sea of smoke. Police had to set up barricades to prevent the crowd of reporters and fans from jostling.

The emergency was desperate. Paramedics rushed into the flames, carrying a stretcher, oxygen tank, and CPR equipment. Elon Musk was pulled out of the mangled pile of steel, his body covered in ash, his oxygen mask pressed tightly, but the heart monitor only beeped in red. A doctor at the scene recounted: “We gave him multiple shocks, repeated chest compressions, but he didn’t respond.” The ambulance blared its siren and sped away amid the screaming crowd, but inside the cabin, hope was almost gone.
That night, the Houston hospital was brightly lit. The ICU lights were flashing, the red monitor kept sounding. Doctors circled around the emergency table, their hands shaking as they performed the last chest compressions. At 2 a.m., the doctor’s voice choked: “There’s no heartbeat.” Elon Musk was pronounced dead. The air was thick with grief, the nurse burst into tears, and outside, the crowd of fans couldn’t believe their ears.

The whole world was shocked. Musk’s family was immediately escorted to the hospital in despair. SpaceX colleagues stood stunned at the scene of the black fire, some knelt down to pray. American politicians spoke in shock: “A genius passed away in flames.” On social networks, the hashtag #PrayForElon quickly climbed to the top 1 globally, then changed to #GoodbyeElon with millions of mourning tweets. Images of white flowers, lit candles, and drooping American flags appeared across major cities.
The incident did not stop there. In the chaos, a group of overzealous fans jostled and caused a bridge near the testing site to partially collapse, killing at least 7 people. Texas police had to mobilize special forces to control the crowd. The double tragedy made the pain even more suffocating.
At dawn, American churches rang their bells in tribute. In California, a sea of people held up Musk’s portrait, candles burning brightly like stars in the sky. In Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, fans gathered outside Tesla and SpaceX headquarters, singing farewell songs. An era seemed to end in a cruel fire.

By the time the sun rose over Texas, the test site was a pile of cold ash. A state funeral had not yet been declared, but the world was in mourning. Elon Musk – the man who defied convention and dreamed of colonizing Mars – was now a meteor. Though he was gone, he left behind an irreplaceable legacy, and the haunting memory of his horrific death brought millions to tears.
