A recent social media post circulating online claims that AI projections — specifically from ChatGPT — mapped out World Series champions for the next 50 years. And buried deep in that futuristic list was a surprising sight: the Chicago White Sox winning it all again.
There’s just one catch.
According to the viral prediction chart, the next White Sox championship wouldn’t arrive until 2055.
A long wait, but an improvement
For some fans, waiting until 2055 might feel discouraging. But believe it or not, that projection actually represents progress.
Earlier versions of the same AI-generated prediction had the White Sox winning the World Series in 2070, meaning the updated forecast shaved 15 years off the drought.
That’s a meaningful upgrade for a fanbase that has experienced its share of frustration over the past several decades.
The chart itself includes some humorous oddities as well. Teams that don’t currently exist appear in the forecast, including a mysterious club called “North Japan,” which supposedly wins multiple championships.

Asking AI directly produces a different answer
Curiosity about the viral prediction led to another question: What would happen if artificial intelligence were asked directly when the White Sox might win their next title?
The response was far less dramatic.
