ABC abruptly cancelled the latest episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, November 6, without providing an official reason. The episode, which was set to feature David Duchovny, Joe Keery, and Madison Beer, was pulled just before airing and replaced by a rerun featuring Tessa Thompson, Daymond John, and The Beths.
Viewers were caught off guard by the sudden programming change, as no prior announcement was made by ABC or Kimmel. According to Deadline, the episode’s cancellation was linked to a “personal matter” involving the host, though no further details were shared. Neither ABC nor Kimmel have publicly addressed the situation.
Madison Beer, who was among the night’s scheduled guests, confirmed the last-minute change through Instagram Stories. “Due to unforeseen circumstances, @jimmykimmellive needed to reschedule my performance that was originally scheduled to air tonight to a later date,” the 26-year-old singer wrote.
This marks another disruption for Jimmy Kimmel Live! in recent months. In September, the show was briefly paused following controversy over Kimmel’s remarks about the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. During that episode, Kimmel discussed the arrest of Tyler Robinson in connection with Kirk’s killing and commented on the political responses surrounding it.
“This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a 4-year-old mourns a goldfish,” Kimmel had said during the segment, which drew sharp reactions.

After the show went on hiatus, several celebrities voiced support for Kimmel, and the Walt Disney Company later cleared the show to resume filming.
When he returned, Kimmel clarified that his intention was never to trivialize Kirk’s death. He expressed sympathy for Kirk’s family, explaining that his comments were meant to critique political reactions rather than the tragedy itself. “I posted a message on Instagram on the day [Charlie] was killed, sending my love to his family, asking for compassion, and I meant it and I still do,” he said on air.
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10. The show’s latest disruption has once again prompted speculation about the challenges of producing live television amid heightened public scrutiny.
