Adam Sandler did not only leave Connecticut this weekend selling out his two consecutive shows at the Mohegan Sun Arena, but he also left with a shiny new Walk of Fame star outside the Mohegan Sun Box Office forecourt.
Sandler brought his “You’re My Best Friend Tour,” featuring new material and songs, to the Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday and Friday night. Originally only scheduled for the one Friday show, which sold out quickly, the second show on Thursday was added by popular demand, according to the Mohegan Sun website.
Sandler, an award-winning comedian, actor and producer many know and love, successfully sold out his last tours in 2022 and 2023, according to the Mohegan Sun website, and his 2024 Netflix special “Adam Sandler: Love You” was filmed over two days in sold-out concerts in Los Angeles. Recently, Sandler released the highly anticipated movie Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix on July 25.
Sandler has visited Connecticut three times, all of which were at Mohegan Sun. His first visit was on Dec. 10, 2016 and the second visit was on Oct. 20, 2022.
“I always have a blast performing at Mohegan Sun Arena,” said Sandler in a press release. “As a comedian, stepping into a venue like this truly feels like home. Whenever I see Mohegan Sun on our tour schedule, I know it’s going to be a great couple of days.”
The night of his Friday show at Mohegan, a special ceremony was held beforehand outside the box office where Sandler was inducted into the Mohegan Sun Arena Walk of Fame. He was presented with the Walk of Fame star by Tom Cantone, president of sports and entertainment at Mohegan, and Joe Soper of the Mohegan Tribal Council.
“It is a true honor to welcome Adam Sandler into the Mohegan Sun Arena Walk of Fame,” said Cantone in the press release.
Sandler is the 43rd Member of Mohegan Sun Arena’s Walk of Fame joining artists such as Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi, Matt Rife, Luke Combs, Shinedown, Ringo Starr and other Mohegan Sun sell-out acts. This honor is given to those the casino feels has significantly contributed to the success of the arena as the “Northeast’s premier entertainment destination.”
Each individual or organizations is recognized with a plaque engraved with their name which is permanently placed at the entrance to Mohegan Sun Arena.
Besides Sandler’s shows, Mohegan Sun Arena, at 1 Mohegan Sun Boulevard in Uncasville, has a number of events happening in October which can be found on the CT Insider website.
