Angel Reese made quite a mark in her second WNBA season. The former LSU Tigers star averaged 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals in 30 games, finishing top two in total rebounds for the second straight year and compiling a league-leading 23 double-doubles (tied with Alyssa Thomas).
But while her individual performance was strong, the Chicago Sky struggled, ending with a 10-34 record, tied for the worst in the league. Speculation about her future in Chicago also has grown, as rumors of friction with the team continue to dominate headlines after a controversial interview and a suspension.
Through it all, Reese’s fan base has stayed supportive, even as she remains one of the most talked-about figures in the WNBA today.

Reese’s journey this season has had its share of turbulence. She missed time due to injury, was briefly suspended for controversial comments for which she later apologized and has shouldered criticism for the Sky’s difficult season.
Even so, her impact was undeniable. She once again proved herself as the WNBA’s top rebounder with a league-leading rebound average, while showing growth as a passer and defender. Reese saw improvement in assists and steals compared to her rookie season, her performance solidified her reputation as a franchise-level player, and her popularity has only reached new heights.
WNBA Fans Make Angel Reese Demand After Netflix’s Announcement
Reese’s growing influence among WNBA fans was highlighted again this week after Netflix announced that Season 2 of “Starting 5,” the behind-the-scenes series featuring NBA stars, would premiere Oct. 16.
While basketball fans have been excited about the new release, WNBA fans quickly turned the conversation toward their league.
As calls for a WNBA version of the show flooded social media, Reese’s name was repeatedly at the center of the discussion. Fans suggested which players should be featured in the miniseries, and many named Reese as a must-have:
“Angel, Phee, A’ja, Paige, Alyssa,” one fan wrote.
“I think Angel will be on Netflix soon,” another fan added.
“Angel is about to have a crazy year next year, i need her on it,” a third fan mentioned.
“first season gotta be: Skylar Angel Aja Caitlin Breanna,” said another.
“Hiedeman, Kiki Iriafen, A’ja Wilson, Angel Reese & Skylar Diggins lol,” a fan posted.
“Not many would watch it unless they got Clark and reese,” another fan concluded.
While the Sky’s struggles and ongoing speculation about her future have dominated headlines, Reese’s star power continues to climb. Her signature shoe release on Thursday sold out in minutes, a clear sign of her growing reach beyond basketball.
Coupled with her rebounding dominance and improved stats, she has emerged as both a cornerstone talent and one of the WNBA’s most marketable athletes. Regardless of whether she remains in Chicago, her influence within the league and her ability to capture fan attention point to a career trajectory that is only accelerating.
