Angel Reese, the second-year Chicago Sky forward, is crying tears of joy on Thursday afternoon.
The 23-year-old Reese is coming off a tough WNBA regular season. The Chicago Sky finished the year at 10-34, missing the playoffs. While Reese had a strong season personally, averaging 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds per game, she finished the year in controversy. Reese called out her teammates and her front office in an interview with the Chicago Tribune, saying that she’s not going to take losing for much longer. Reese’s controversial interview led to an in-game suspension with the Sky.

But while Reese had a tough finish to the 2025 regular season, she’s experiencing a great high on Thursday.
Reese, who signed an endorsement contract with Reebok after leaving LSU for the WNBA Draft in 2024, launched her personal shoes, the Angel Reese 1s, on Thursday morning, September 18.
The shoes, which come in three colorways – white, black and white, and pink – were “inspired by Reese’s dynamic energy on and off the court,” according to Reebok. The shoes, which retail for $120, feature “a lightweight, flexible construction with unmatched support, energy return, and stability.”

The shoes sold out within minutes online, according to Reebok’s website.
Reese, who grew up in Baltimore and first attended Maryland before transferring to LSU, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, following the news of her shoes selling out online.
Angel Reese was brought to Reebok by Shaq
While other WNBA stars, like Caitlin Clark and A’Ja Wilson, are signing with Nike, Reese ultimately went with Reebok, which hasn’t been active in the basketball shoe space in a long time. Reebok previously had signature shoes for guys like Allen Iverson and John Wall, but ultimately went away from the space.

The brand is back, now, though, thanks in part to O’Neal. The legendary NBA star first wanted to sign some big-name NBA players, but he quickly realized he didn’t have the budget for that. So, he went with Reese, targeting a younger generation.
“Since we’re starting all over, we going to start with the younger generation,” Shaq admitted, per Basketball Network.
“And then I said, let me make a power call real quick. ‘Angel, you want to go with Nike where they’re just gonna give you a regular shoe. Or do you want to deal with a (expletive) that will give you your own shoe? You know you’re the (expletive), you need your own shoe.’ ‘For real, you can do that?’ ‘Yeah, I can do that.’ So signing Angel was my (work).”

The move appears to be working out, as Reese’s new signature shoes have already sold out online.
