Prince Andrew’s decision to surrender his royal titles on October 17, 2025, has raised significant questions about the future of his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. However, despite the shock move, it has been confirmed that their royal titles and positions remain unaffected.

Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35, are the daughters of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. While neither princess is a full-time working royal, both retain their titles of “Princess” and remain in the line of succession to the throne. Princess Beatrice is currently ninth in line, followed by her daughters, Sienna and Athena Mapelli Mozzi. Princess Eugenie is twelfth in line, with her sons, August and Ernest Brooksbank, behind her.
Both Beatrice and Eugenie lead private careers while attending major royal events and family gatherings, such as Christmas. It is unclear whether their roles at future events will change, but it is not anticipated that their attendance will stop, despite the increased scrutiny surrounding their father.
Though Prince Andrew has relinquished his titles, he will retain his “Prince” status as a son of Queen Elizabeth II. This is in accordance with the Letters Patent issued by King George V in 1917 and updated by the late Queen in 2012.

The move follows ongoing attention surrounding Andrew’s connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In his statement, Prince Andrew emphasized that his decision was made in order to prevent any further distractions to the work of King Charles and the Royal Family. He also reaffirmed his previous decision to step back from public life five years ago.

As for Sarah Ferguson, she has also given up the use of her Duchess of York title and has continued to be known as Sarah Ferguson in her professional life since her divorce from Prince Andrew in 1986.
