Nightmare Behind the Scenes: Kamala Harris Practiced Viagra and Abortion Speeches to Face Trump?
Washington D.C. – Beneath the flickering lights and darkness of the Howard University basement, where former Vice President Kamala Harris was a student, a scene straight out of a horror movie unfolded. It wasn’t a lab or a classroom, but a “debate prep battlefield” ahead of her historic 2024 presidential run against Donald Trump. And according to Harris’s new book, “107 Days,” what unfolded there left even seasoned political advisers wide-eyed.

Harris revealed that her team of advisers, including an experienced lawyer she likened to a “wartime consigliere,” put her in extremely awkward hypothetical situations—from personal attacks on abortion to provocative questions about Viagra. “One of the advisers said, ‘He might ask you if you’ve ever had an abortion,’” Harris writes, her tone both sour and tense. The prepared response: “That’s none of your business and that’s not why we’re here.”

But the preparation didn’t stop there. Another adviser even made a ‘dark joke,’ suggesting Harris might ask back: has Trump used Viagra? There was even a hypothetical scenario: has Trump ever paid for an abortion? These scenarios, Harris says, were rehearsed over and over again until her reflexes became second nature, ready for any political jab Trump might throw.

The preparation reportedly took place in the Howard basement, a space both intimate and cold, with white lights and discussion boards piled with papers. Her advisers subjected her to a series of hypothetical scenarios, from vulgar comments and scandalous hints to extremely sensitive questions about her personal life, all designed to test her ability to handle the stress of being on the national stage.
“I’m not a trained seal,” Harris writes, “I can’t memorize every line. I have to understand the logic and structure of every argument in order to present it clearly and convincingly.” However, as she describes it, rehearsing scripts related to Viagra and abortion turned the preparation sessions into a “backstage nightmare” more than any other rehearsal she’s ever experienced.
In the book, she also reveals that debate cards were written for every detail and nuance of every topic. Once Harris had mastered the material, she would mark a large X on the card, symbolizing that she had learned the material – but also as a reminder that at any moment Trump could launch a “personal attack” that would render any script useless.
Interestingly, despite the team’s meticulous preparation for extremely vulgar situations, Trump ultimately chose not to go this route in the debates. “He probably knew such a question was too risky – and would make nearly every woman in America angry,” Harris writes. However, it was the preparation for these unthinkable situations that made the backstage tension almost “nightmarish.”
But critics have argued that the book’s revelations were deliberately exaggerated to create drama. “The inclusion of Viagra and abortion in hypothetical situations is sensational,” one commentator said. “It’s just for entertainment, not for serious political reality.” Harris’ supporters, meanwhile, argue that this is a testament to her meticulous preparation and relentless fighting spirit against an unpredictable opponent.
Behind-the-scenes details also reveal her strategy for dealing with Trump: every situation, every personal question is analyzed, from the media impact to the voter reaction. An anonymous source in the preparation team said: “We considered everything, from shocking questions to vulgar comments, to make sure she was ready. This was more war preparation than debate preparation.”
Not only that, Harris also revealed the ‘tense moments’ with her husband – when she moaned and expressed her emotions after rehearsals. “He could just look at me, speechless, as if he was witnessing a psychological war taking place right in his own living room,” Harris wrote.
