At the memorial held at State Farm Stadium, U.S. President Donald Trump called activist Charlie Kirk a “martyr” for America’s freedom.
On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump referred to conservative activist Charlie Kirk as a “martyr” for the nation’s freedom. The memorial at State Farm Stadium drew tens of thousands of people bidding farewell to Kirk, who was assassinated on September 10.

“That day, a missionary for America’s freedom became immortal,” Trump said, emphasizing that Kirk is now regarded as “a martyr for the freedom of this country.”
He described Kirk’s dedication, recalling numerous times he had been invited to events on short notice but could never refuse: “You never want to disappoint Charlie. He worked so hard that no one could say no.”
Trump also affirmed that Kirk helped ignite the conservative movement among young people: “Charlie didn’t just attract youth to the movement; suddenly it surged dramatically. In 2024, we won more young voters than any Republican candidate in history.”

Earlier, Erika Kirk, the activist’s wife, tearfully stated that she forgives the person who shot her husband and vowed to continue his legacy by expanding the conservative movement to more schools and students.
