PHILADELPHIA – Former Saint Joseph’s University women’s basketball standout Natasha Cloud ’14 has signed a contract to play for Besiktas Women’s Basketball Team in Turkey this coming Fall.
Selected 15th overall by the Washington Mystics in the 2015 WNBA Draft, Cloud is currently leading all WNBA rookies in assists per game (3.1) and has appeared in all 18 games. Helping the Mystics to an 11-7 record and second place in the Eastern Conference, the Broomall, Pennsylvania, native is also averaging 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game for Washington and has started the past six contests. Cloud will continue to play for the Mystics through the regular season and playoffs before heading overseas.
Among the top players in Hawk history, Cloud capped her three-year career having led SJU to two NCAA Tournament Appearances (2013, 2014), a pair of Philadelphia Big 5 titles (2014, 2015) and the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship. Coming to Hawk Hill after playing at Maryland as a rookie, the 6-foot-guard etched her name in Saint Joseph’s record books numerous times as she finished third all-time in assists (582), ninth in steals (174), 16th in rebounds (535) and 20th in points (1,049).
One of only eight players in A-10 history to be named to its All-Defensive Team three times, Cloud was selected to the A-10 All-Conference First Team this past year after finishing among the national leaders in assists per game (6.6) and averaging a career-best 12.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Named a Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List Finalist and selected to the Naismith Trophy Watch List, she led her team in assists, steals (53) and minutes played (1,126), while finishing as the team’s top scorer in 11 games and the top rebounder in six contests.
